Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on May 23rd, 2011

Steve Ballmer recently spoke at Japanese Developer Forum 2011 and unveiled some new information about the Windows 7.5 ‘Mango’ update for Windows Phone 7. Windows Phone 7.5 will bring 500 new features to Windows Phone 7 devices, though we don’t have any details on what these 500 features are.

He also said that tomorrows ‘Mango’ event will reveal details of new Windows Phone 7 manufacturers and carriers, and we can expect to see a new range of Windows Phone 7 handsets announced. Hopefully we will learn just what these features are soon and when we know, you will know.

Back in August an unnamed Asus smartphone powered by Windows Phone 7 was sighted and now the phone has surfaced again and we have a name. It’s called the Asus E600. It recently visited with the FCC and we know that the device features a WVGA touchscreen which is about 4-inches.

Other features include 850/1900MHz 3G bands, so it may be for AT&T in the US, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 5.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, microSD card support and a 1,300mAh battery.

WP7 developers complain of missing payments, broken reporting tools

Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on November 29th, 2010

While most of us really like the new Windows Phone 7 UI and even its software developer kit, some developers aren’t liking the way Marketplace is working for them so far. According to Nicholas Yu and Justin James, it’s currently impossible for them to know how many apps they have sold (and how much Microsoft owes them). They don’t even know when payments will be coming their way. Apparently Justin James was told by Microsoft that no developer payout would happen until 2011.

We aren’t sure what the deal is yet as Windows Phone 6.x developers did not seem to have these problems. We hope that Microsoft will solve this quickly.

WP7 copy & paste coming in weeks

Some of you might be undecided about Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 operating system due to its lack of copy and paste. If that is the case, then you might like to know that the platform will be getting an upgrade “in a matter of weeks”.

This upgrade will include that functionality. According to Arpan Shah, Director for Product Management for Microsoft Project at Microsoft, the feature will be here very soon in just a few weeks.

Microsoft giving free WP7 devices to AT&T workers

Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on October 16th, 2010

It was rumored that Microsoft was giving out WP7 devices to its staff and now we have word that the company is also giving AT&T workers free WP7 devices to get the word out. An employee claims that about 100 devices were given out to those attending an event in Minneapolis, though it wasn’t confirmed if it was a US-wide policy or not. We assume not.

It also wasn’t mentioned which phone of the many WP7 devices were given out, but with the Samsung Focus being the first to ship, it’s likely that one.
