HP has unveiled their latest line of xw9400 workstations packing AMD’s six-core Opteron 2400 series. These processors are capable of giving a system as many as 12 cores. According to HP, the chips offer about 34% more performance per watt compared to earlier quad-cores, despite using a similar amount of energy.

Which Opterons are used isn’t mentioned, but clock speeds for the Opteron 2400 line range from 2.2GHz to 2.6GHz. The systems can also be outfitted with a high-end FirePro V7750 workstation-class graphics card from AMD.

Dell is getting ready to release three new T-series workstations: the T3500, T5500, and T7500. You’ll get up to 1.5TB of storage space, an eSATA port, DisplayPort connectors and they’re EnergyStar compliant.

The T3500 that will support up to 24GB RAM. The T5500 offers a RAM capacity of up to 72GB. Dual sport sockets will be included so you can use dual Intel Xeons. The T7500 supports a hefty 192GB of RAM running at 1,066MHz or 1,333MHz. This model also features dual native Gen 2 PCIe graphics card slots with support for NVIDIA SLI.
