Star Trek Enterprise pizza wheel

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on September 21st, 2010

Trekkies love a good pizza. Who doesn’t? So if you are going to slice up a pizza, you may as well do it with the Enterprise. Set a course for the pepperoni frontier. This thing will slice your fresh pizza pie faster than phasers can slice through a Klingon warship.

The blade is made from laser-etched stainless steel, and the body is made from a durable zinc-alloy chromium plate. Mostly, it just looks awesome and you know it will impress your friends.

Yale students invent Spokeless Bicycle Wheel

Posted in Personal Transport by Conner Flynn on February 17th, 2010

Several students from Yale University have created a bicycle wheel that does away with the spokes entirely. Pretty awesome. All of our future bicycles will probably look like this one. They should all be patting themselves on the back.

But I’m sad to see the spokes go. Where will we put our baseball cards so we can make that weird noise? It also leaves less room for reflectors. If only bicycle spokes had had a spokes-person, perhaps they wouldn’t now be facing extinction.

Airtrax re-invents the wheel, makes it omnidirectional

You can’t re-invent the wheel. Or can you? Airtrax has done just that, with omnidirectional wheels that actually work. The new wheels will target industrial vehicles, where all of that rolling forward, back, sideways and diagonally will come in handy.

Who knows, maybe we will see these on passenger cars eventually. Sure would help with getting stuck in the snow.

Blazepro Offers Realistic Wii racing wheel
I haven’t picked up my copy of Mario Kart yet, but I imagine this new Wii wheel from Blazepro will make it a more realistic and far cooler experience. It’s got to be better then that rinky-dink wheel they are packaging with the game.

This new wheel promises better driving accuracy. The base can be attached to any desktop for more stability, too. If you still like playing it the other way, you can detach the wheel for more freedom. Available for only $5.87.

Hamster powered toy car looks fun, fast

Hamster powered toy car looks fun, fast
Let’s face it, if you’re a hamster it doesn’t get much better then this. It’s either riding in the self-powered Critter Cruiser, or passing your time between defecating in one corner of your cage and drinking precious drops of water from your dripping IV bottle in the other corner.

This self-powered Rat-rod is the highlight of your life, my furry friend. But sadly, your rodent brain doesn’t seem to know the difference between this and the wheel in your cage. Which, frankly, sucks for you. So, in conclusion, this is probably more fun for us humans to watch. I think we should probably harness hamster power to charge our gadgets. Check out the video below.

USB Pottery Wheel could get messy

USB Pottery Wheel
If you happen to have a love for molding clay, or making pottery by hand, this DIY USB Pottery Wheel project is for you. Maybe you just want to re-enact that special scene from the movie Ghost, while splashing clay all over your keyboard and monitor.

Lucky for you, all you need is a dead hard drive which you can turn into a pottery wheel. Okay, you’ll need to know a tad about electronics too. And you’ll need to follow the link and watch the video. Soon after, you’ll be humming the Ghost theme and pretending that you are making pottery with a hunky ghost. Someone like you really should get a hobby, so this is a good project. The ghost of Patrick Swayze will never do crafts with you.
