A new 3D Webcam we heard about earlier this year is set to make the rounds at the Consumer Electronics Show this week, followed by early January sales here in the United States. It is called the Minoru 3D Webcam and it will price around $90 when released.

The Minoru is said to provide a 3D stereoscopic image because it is a single piece with two cameras spaced roughly the same distance apart aside. Strange looking similarities to Wall-E aside, the developer of this Webcam says users will tend to look into the eyes of the camera as they light up – perhaps to suck more cash out of one’s pocket.

The stereo webcam uses two lenses to form one image that appears three-dimensional…when the viewer wears a pair of 3D glasses. When are we gonna get beyond these nerd glasses?

D-Link continued its consistent roll out of new products with word today of a new surveillance camera kit that enables remote viewing of live streaming video from a web browser. The D-Link Internet Surveillance Starter Kit (DHA-390) is priced at around $500.

The Internet Surveillance Starter Kit (DHA-390) is reportedly “the world’s easiet IP camera installation.” It comes bundled with an Internet camera and two Powerline networking adapters and provides email alert snapshots, live video monitoring over the Internet on a PC and the ability to share camera feeds, even in “low light situations.”

Logitech has a long history of making some of the best webcams available for computer users. What Logitech doesn’t have much of a history offering are Mac compatible webcams. In fact this week Logitech announced its first ever Mac compatible webcam that uses premium technologies.

The Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac has Carl Zeiss optics and is compatible with iChat and Skype on the Mac. The camera also uses a voice coil motor for its focusing system rather than a stepper motor. Thus provides faster focusing and allows the webcam to focus on objects as close as 10cm from the lens.
