Walmart and Evanflo Safe Car Seat: Evenflo Advanced SensorSafe Embrace

Posted in children by Olivia Olson on July 29th, 2015

cropped carseatIt is estimated that approximately 40 babies die each year from heat stroke after being left in cars. This is usually attributed to the fact that car seats for infants face away from the front of the car, allowing parents to forget about their sleeping children in the backseat. Now Walmart and Evenflo have teamed up to create the Evenflo Advanced SensorSafe Embrace.
The car seat uses a wireless receiver that is hooked up to the car’s On Board Diagnostics. It is then synced with the car seat which will play a “jingle” if the car is off and the car seat is still buckled. The difference between this car seat and other smart car seats is that it doesn’t work through the bluetooth in your cellphone, so the car seat will still …

Walmart selling the HTC Sensation 4G early

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on June 12th, 2011

Looks like Walmart has already started selling the HTC Sensation 4G. Not a big deal except this is before the official release date of the phone. We aren’t sure if all Walmarts have the device for sale, but they’ve sold many of them already. People have been buying it from Walmart for $148.88 bundled with an 8GB microSD card.

To refresh your memory, the HTC Sensation features a 4.3″ qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 2.3, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a front facing camera, DLNA, HSPA+ support, and comes preloaded with HTC Listen, T-Mobile TV, T-Mobile video chat, and Slacker Radio. It was first announced for $199.99 after a $50 rebate with a 2-year contract, so that $148.88 is pretty good.

The price reduction began on Monday and applies to both the AT&T and Verizon versions of the iPhone 4. The $147 on-contract price is also available for both the black and white models, so you can get either one.

iPad 2 shows up at Walmart early

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2011

In Central New York state, Anthony Carretero spotted the iPad 2 on store shelves already. One Walmart in the area had at least the 32GB and 64GB models in their display cabinets ahead of the 5PM Friday launch. Carretero didn’t try to buy the iPad though, but apparently one person who tried couldn’t get it to process in the checkout system.

This kind of thing is common in technology sales, whether due to inexperienced staff or any number of things, but it doesn’t often happen with Apple products. Anyway, for now you can look, but you can’t buy one until tomorrow.

Did Walmart sell a Georgia man a fake iPad?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on February 13th, 2011

This story smells a bit fishy, but a Georgia man claims that a local Walmart sold him a fake iPad, and now the store is refusing to give him a refund.

The iPad shown in the video below is obviously one of those fake display models Walmart uses to trick thieves, but how did Ken Lamal end up with this in his box instead of a new authentic iPad? That’s the question. This story just doesn’t sound right though. In the video, the reporter takes it to an Apple tech to confirm that it isn’t the real thing. I mean, come on. You should know better. The tech says that it’s probably a “brick in the box” return, meaning that a customer bought an iPad, then substituted the display model for the real thing and returned it for a refund.

Apple iPad to arrive at Walmart on Oct 15

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on October 12th, 2010

Looks like that leak was correct. Walmart has confirmed that Apple’s iPad will be arriving at its stores on Friday, October 15. All models will be available at the same prices that Apple charges and these will be part of a separate showcase of Apple hardware in-store.

The iPad will also be available online via Walmart, but only for in-store pick up, so you’ll be hitting the store no matter which you choose. The device will initially arrive at hundreds of stores, but an expansion will see some 2,300 stores offer it by mid-November. We take this move by Apple to mean that it is feeling some pressure from the competition.

iPad arriving in Walmart stores starting next week?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on October 10th, 2010

Way back in May we told you that Walmart would be offering iPads this year and it looks like that is about to happen. A photo of an email sent to Walmart store managers received by MacRumors indicates that the Apple iPad will be rolled out to up to 1000 stores by the end of October, starting next week.

The photos show that Walmart will be offering all six models of the iPad with initial stock limited to just five of each model per store. Never fear, the standard range of iPad accessories will also offered along with AppleCare extended warranties. Sources say that an additional 800 stores will begin carrying the device in November, and each store will have a live demo unit inside a case that will include a looping video demonstration of the iPad in action.

Walmart and T-Mobile to launch wireless service

Posted in T-Mobile by Conner Flynn on September 14th, 2010

Walmart is all set to release their self-branded wireless service called Walmart Family Mobile. It will work with T-Mobile’s GSM network, here in the US. Data usage will be $40 per gigabyte. The advantage of this service over others is that the balance, unused data is carried over to the next month.

The best phone in the line will be the Motorola Cliq XT. Walmart will also sell pre-paid wireless options from Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel. It will be available starting next week.

iPhone 4 at Walmart ready for launch day

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on June 22nd, 2010

I don’t like pre-ordering gadgets. I prefer to walk in and walk out with what I want. If you feel the same way and didn’t pre-order an iPhone 4, your best bet to get one on launch day may be Walmart.

A source has sent Engadget picture of the iPhone 4 in its cellophane wrapped cardboard box waiting in the back area at Walmart. The device is ready to go.

Apple iPad will not tether to iPhoneAttention Walmart shoppers, you might see the iPad hitting Walmart stores near you sometime soon. Senior vice president of entertainment for Walmart’s US stores has confirmed that they’re planning to carry the iPad later this year.

U.S. distribution is currently limited to Apple’s online and retail stores and Best Buy locations offering the Apple “store-within-a-store” concept. We’ll have to see how this works out as Apple is busy trying to keep up with customer demand for the iPad.

Sprint and Walmart unveil Common Cents prepaid wireless plans

Posted in Sprint by Shane McGlaun on May 13th, 2010

One of the things that has bothered me about pretty much all the wireless plans out there is that they round minutes up. If you go into the next minute even for a second most plans charge you for the whole minute.

Sprint and Walmart have announced a new plan called the Common Cents plan that is a prepaid wireless plan that does the opposite of most calling plans. It rounds down to the lowest minute. That means a call lasting 1:45 seconds will only cost you the price of a minute.
