Sony’s dropping some new, smooth looking Walkmans our way this week led by the NWZ-A820 which features audio and video playback with a 2.4-inch QVGA display at 30 fps, includes EX earbuds and 36 hours of battery life for audio playback, 10 for video. It comes in capacities of 4GB, 8GB and 16GB, is compatible with Windows Media and supports MP3, AAC, WMA, L-PCM formats for audio and h.264/MPEG4 for video. Sony has also added Bluetooth into the mix along with their noise canceling technology.

Sony’s NWZ-A720 series has looks a specs very much like the A820 series but it loses the wireless Bluetooth. Sony also has a NWZ-A820K model that will not only come with the earbuds but also includes a set of wireless Bluetooth headphones to take advantage of the no-wires connectivity.

Sony Ericsson dropped a new Walkman mobile phone/media player to the market today with the W980, featuring 8GB of internal memory, included headphones and something the company is calling “Walkman On Top”.

The new Walkman On Top is a lot like it sounds. SE put the controls and the display of current playing tracks on the front of the device allowing complete navigation and viewing without having to open up the handset, hence the name “on top”. The new Walkman also comes with built-in stereo speakers and FM transmitter letting users share their tunes directly or through an FM radio on a home or car stereo. Sony Ericsson also wanted to make sure that listening to music alone was clear with quality sound and threw in Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-77 headset. The headset allows listening to music and the ability to take calls hands free.

iPods are one of the most common devices that thieves will steal easily if given half a chance. Therefore, it’s better to have it disguised as something else. And while you might look a little odd listening to your vintage 80′s walkman, no one will ever suspect that there’s a valuable iPod inside.

According to the BoyGenius Report rumors of the Sony Ericssson W999i Walkman phone have been confirmed due to an accidental posting of the device on the GSM Association website (search by brand for Sony Ericsson). Rumors of a new line up came about weeks ago, but nothing near to concrete as this.

The information is pretty scant, but as usual the picture itself says quite a bit. The W999i Walkman features a slider form factor exposing a two-letter per button keypad and HSDPA. Some other rumored features that are not confirmed along with this photo are a 2 megapixel camera, a 12.5 mm thick frame and a 2.4 inch QVGA screen. No information on price or availability, but it can’t be too far off now.

Coming out later this month in the land of the rising sun are Sony’s new E Series Walkman DAPs and if you don’t pay attention, you might mistake one for a USB drive.

These trim beauties will come in three memory sizes (1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB) and in five metallic colors (black, gold, pink, blue and purple.) Weighing in at just 29 grams they can play MP3, AAC, WMA and ATRAC files using Sony’s Clear Audio technology and, of course, dock right into any USB port.

Sony Ericsson continues to expand their Walkman mobile phone lineup and feature list by now adding the Walkman W580. The W580i sports the Quad Band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900) connectivity along with music playback, and this time Sony Ericsson has added some additional new features to help with your outdoor exercise routine.

The new mobile phone supports Disc2Phone software to transfer music to an internal 12MB of storage which can be expanded with a Memory Stick card, and TrackID will identify unknown songs whether they are downloaded or even recorded off of the built in FM tuner. Some other highlights are a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a “slider” style frame.

This new MP3 player from Sony definitely has the athlete in mind when they designed it. When you look at the NW-S205 Walkman it has athlete written all over it, beginning with the small and sleek design.

The NW-S205 (part of the new NW-S200 series from Sony) is only 3.8 inches long and has a diameter of .6 inches. The trade off for having something this small is the interface. It only has a one line small visual interface for reading the information, and some small twist and rocker controls to navigate, but once you get it running you are set.

For transferring data to the Walkman, there is a small USB port on the end that you can hook up to your PC and use the supplied software (SonicStage) to manage the data transfer. Some features of the NW-S205 Walkman:

The Walkman really come a long way, and the contrast in neat to see with this new Sony W950i Walkman compared to the original Walkman of 1979.

The W950i Walkman is a mobile phone that will be released in the near future with an music player and a nice big touchscreen with big buttons to make navigation easy. (The original Walkman had big buttons, too.)

The W950i comes with 4 Gig of flash memory to store lots of music files, and uses 3G for fast web browsing with the Opera 8 browser. The new Walkman also supports streaming video, email, handwriting recognition, sound recorder, 3D games and picks up FM radio.
