Apple Walkpod is an iPod Walkman

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on August 21st, 2008

Apple Walkpod is an iPod WalkmanI have no idea if this is a concept or some geek’s elaborate prank in order to get girls or something. It could be a modified cassette player, but somehow I doubt it. You would need a few AA batteries at least. All I know is that had the actual iPod and Walkman merged in the 80’s, this would be the result. I suppose it would download music off of itunes, and store it on it’s cassette hard drive. When that casette is full, insert another and begin again. Very bizarre, but a cool pic.

New Sony Walkman PMPs hit the internet with lots of colorA new breed of Walkmans has hit Sony’s New Zealand website and they are colorful as a bag full of skittles in a Leprechauns pot o gold. The new models are the NWZ-E435, NWZ-E436, and NWZ-E438. They all feature a 2-inch QVGA LCD display, FM tuner, codec support for MP3, AAC, WMA, and Linear PCM files, and clock in a very small package of 8.5mm.

The devices will be available in 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB sizes, each model having various color options, the NWZ-E438 being the exception as it only comes in black. Supposedly the PMPs are compatible with both Windows Media Player and iTunes, with a drag and drop interface. Nothing on price yet or what country will see it first. Not even a release date, but expect them on the next month or two. We’ll let you know when we hear more.

Sony Ericsson W890 Walkman with 8GB memorySony Ericsson dropped a new Walkman mobile phone/media player to the market today with the W980, featuring 8GB of internal memory, included headphones and something the company is calling “Walkman On Top”.

The new Walkman On Top is a lot like it sounds. SE put the controls and the display of current playing tracks on the front of the device allowing complete navigation and viewing without having to open up the handset, hence the name “on top”. The new Walkman also comes with built-in stereo speakers and FM transmitter letting users share their tunes directly or through an FM radio on a home or car stereo. Sony Ericsson also wanted to make sure that listening to music alone was clear with quality sound and threw in Stereo Portable Handsfree HPM-77 headset. The headset allows listening to music and the ability to take calls hands free.

Disguise your iPod as a vintage Walkman

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on February 3rd, 2008

iPod Walkman
iPods are one of the most common devices that thieves will steal easily if given half a chance. Therefore, it’s better to have it disguised as something else. And while you might look a little odd listening to your vintage 80’s walkman, no one will ever suspect that there’s a valuable iPod inside.

This clever iPod concealer has authentic looks right down to a see-through clear plastic front. Unfortunately you can’t get one of these for your own right now. This one the owner made himself. Ever think you would see an iPod in an old Walkman? I know I never thought I’d live to see the day. He gets points for originality. Who knows, this sort of thing may just revive that old 80’s walkman style, that seemed so cool back then.

Sony Walkman NW-S205FSThis new MP3 player from Sony definitely has the athlete in mind when they designed it. When you look at the NW-S205 Walkman it has athlete written all over it, beginning with the small and sleek design.

The NW-S205 (part of the new NW-S200 series from Sony) is only 3.8 inches long and has a diameter of .6 inches. The trade off for having something this small is the interface. It only has a one line small visual interface for reading the information, and some small twist and rocker controls to navigate, but once …
