HTC wants some help naming their new phone

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on April 15th, 2010

Apparently HTC can’t decide on a name for their new phone. So they are asking you for help. I guess they want you to feel like you are involved in the creation process, thereby giving you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

The company’s Facebook page has a poll with the four name options: HTC Jovi, HTC Zeal, HTC Wildfire and HTC Festi. Right now Wildfire is in the lead. HTC has not unveiled any additional details aboutthe handset yet.

Voting Booths of the future

Voting Booths of the futureTomorrow is the big election and we will soon find out whether Obama or McCain will become president. And while we are waiting to vote, Core77 just held a contest that featured redesigned voting booths for the future. Some were serious, while others are more playful. The winner was “Voting Tree” shown above, by vinishree. Voting tree makes voting a more organic, less rushed, grounded experience. After you vote, you stick a leaf on the tree, which adds a feeling of community participation. Interesting concept. Hit the link to see the rest. There are some very interesting ideas.

Obama rocks the iPhone

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on October 2nd, 2008

Obama rocks the iPhoneThe Vice Presidential debate this evening will take place in about a half hour. Earlier Obama for America announced the release of Obama ‘08: The Official Application for iPhone and iPod touch. Much like the USB bracelet we told you about, it’s another way to connect with the candidate. The app is free and is available for download now. The app makes it easier for Obama volunteers to get involved by making calls on the candidate’s behalf.

You’ll also get news updates, news coverage, local events, media from the campaign trail, and of course Obama’s and Biden’s stance on “essential issues facing Americans.” I’m interested to see what kind of affect this has on election results as I don’t see anything like this coming from McCain’s camp. It makes it clear that the youth/tech savvy vote is Obama’s. And he’s making it easy for them to get more involved. McCain may take credit for the Blackberry, but good luck getting an email from him anytime soon. I’m pretty sure his phone still has a rotary dial.

Now normally we don’t pay much attention to politics. For instance we won’t ask you to Rock The Vote, and we don’t care if you vote for the young hip guy whose face adorns the DS above or the old guy trying so hard to be hip with his corded phone. But when it comes to tech and assorted geekery, we want your vote.

So if you’re a fan of the ‘Brick just hit the link below and follow the instructions to get us nominated. We can’t say we stand for change and we have no Moose-shooting VP, we just really really love gadgets!
