CrestaTech unveils programmable broadband chip for HDTV

crestatech-sbThe problem with TV tuner cards for computers when it comes to traveling the globe is that in different countries and regions you need a different type of tuner. The turners that work in America won’t work in Europe for example.

CrestaTech unveiled its new HDTV Anywhere chip today at IDF. The chip integrates a programmable RF IC and software that allows PCs to receive live analog or digital TV broadcasts, radio, and GPS in any city, region, or country.

The Chang Jiang A998 looks a bit like a toy, especially in baby blue color, even though comes with a 2.8 inch display screen, 3.0-megapixel camera, TV function, integrated MP3 and MP4 player, Bluetooth, GPRS, FM radio, dual SIM slots, microSD slot and other basic features like FM radio, E-book , Currency converter, Unit converter, To do list, Incoming calls secretary and calculator. The price is $180.86. Probably the most interesting feature is that it sports the VAIO logo for some reason.
