Halloween is almost here and while we all have a healthy fear of witches,ghosts,monsters and zombies, it’s robots that we should really be afraid of. Robots are capable of killing every creature on that list and then turning on us.

That’s why I’m proposing that we phase out all of the old monster decorations and Jack-o-lantern faces and replace them with robots. If you don’t fear them now, you will wish you had feared them sooner one cool October night when a red-eyed robot TPs a house with your intestines.

You might think that if you have some Transformers speakers, they would…transform. Sadly, that’s not the case with these USB Optimus Prime speakers. The only thing that moves are Optimus’ ears, turning him into Prince Charles or a robot elephant.

Other than that, it will blast your favorite tunes. The only thing that transforms is your wallet, which loses $50 on this pair of desktop speakers.

There was a bunch of robot news this week over at Botropolis. We were still recovering from how shockingly bad the Terminator movie was and the new Transformers flick that debuted didn’t impress us much either. Thank god we still have a never ending stream of robot related goodness to get us through. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Revenge of the Fallen, the second installment in the Transformers movie franchise, is out this week and there’s no better way to celebrate than by geeking up your DS with these fancy costumes. If you’re into cosplay, maybe you and your DS can match.

The stylus and armor is available in both Bumblebee and Megatron and will cost you $19.99 for both, or $12.99 for either the stylus or the case.

It isn’t easy keeping track of all the robot toys, apparel, etc, while also keeping a watchful eye on various robotic Frankenstein creations over at Botropolis. Luckily we have a sharp team that isn’t afraid to take caffeine intravenously. There’s also the added incentive of me letting the team use my underground Bot-shelter whenever we do face an imminent robot attack. What they don’t know is that I have a few traps installed. Stuff like a trap-door with Rancor pit beneath. You know, if rations start to get low. Hey, I have to look out for me. But I digress. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Another week has come and gone. As usual, we’ve been keeping tabs on all things robot over at Botropolis. We haven’t had any reports of muscle-bound freaks appearing naked in the street and asking after John Connor, but hell, it’s only 2009. Still, we’re keeping our eyes peeled and we are your first line of defense. When they do strike, we will be ready with up to the minute updates. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Remember that transformer who used to transform from a cat into a cassette? That’s old school Ravage. New school Ravage is an awesome USB drive. This combines all of the awesomeness that is transformers, with USB technology.

It’s simply the latest way to fly your geek flag from your USB port. Pose him, transform him and fill his 2GB soul with data. Ravage will cost you $43 and he ships in September.

I went to see Star Trek on opening weekend and out of the 600 trailers that ran before the movie started, one of the coolest was for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The movie looks pretty good and today anytime we hear of a new movie that can possibly support a video game tie in, we know it’s coming.

Activision has announced that the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game to go along with the film is under development and will use voice talent from the films leading starts including Shai “I really (really) love my momma” LeBeouf and Megan “Miss Hotness” Fox.

You couldn’t be more ready to see some Autobots and Decepticons rumble. You have all the cool toys, including the much sought after Transformer shoes. Now you need to get your hands on this phone from LG.

It’s a limited-edition version of the Versa handset, and has the Decepticon logo on one side and transformers art along with the movie title on the back.

There’s always room for dessert and nothing beats a fresh and cleverly made geek cake. In recent years “Geek cakes” have become an art form, hopefully not your pet name used by your significant other. One thing is certain, if geeks love a thing, chances are it will become a cake. So, we wanted to take a look at some of our favorite geek desserts and celebrate the clever bakers and icing artists that make geek birthdays and weddings just a bit more fun. Yeah I know. I thought I had seen everything that Transformers could transform to and from as well. As usual all I needed to do was wait and sure enough, the next weird thing comes along.

Transformer fans will love these. Are they really wearable? Well these are toys, but if your feet are small enough, you can step into the very sole of Optimus Toejam here and share in the foul smelling adventure to get the All-spark and save the world from the Decepti-clogs. They come in blue or yellow for $27 a pair.

Transformers fans will love this four port USB hub in the shape of Optimus Prime’s head. It’s like you decapitated the lead transformer and have a talking trophy on your desk. Like the All Spark version, it spews classic phrases like “Autobots, transform and roll out!”, “This is Optimus Prime - do you read me?” and “It’s time to stomp some Decepticons!” when you connect a USB gadget.

It has an on/off switch for the voice, so when you get sick of it, you won’t have to pull your hair out. It will cost you $34.99. Now you have something to keep you company until the sequel comes out.

This already-shrunk-down version of the All Spark from the Transformers movie has a few less powers than its likeness in the movie and probably won’t turn your gadgets into small Autobots and Decepticons. It does however have the ability to expand your USB ports by 3 as its main purpose is a 4-port USB hub. As if that’s not quite enough for Transformer fans, the hub will also spout out All Spark phrases from the Transformer movie. I don’t think I remember the All Spark doing a lot of talking during the movie but I suppose that was the next best thing to having the device auto-expand into the full-size All Spark.

The USB hub retails for £17.99, but can only be pre-ordered at this time and isn’t expected to be available until the end of August.
