Etch-A-Sketch Freestyle takes some of the fun out of it

Etch-A-Sketch Freestyle takes some of the fun out of itIt’s always nice when our old gadgets and toys get some modern upgrades, but some things just should not be changed. The Etch-A-Sketch Freestyle gets rid of the traditional 2 controller knob design in favor of a single knob that can swivel 360 degrees.

I don’t know about you, but somehow this design feels like cheating. Half the fun of the classic version is that it requires some skill to use it. This is no Etch A Sketch.

Most RC toys are hard to fly and complicated. A simple slider control handles up-and-down movement, so just about anybody can control it easily. It’s only $19.99. The only downside is that all it does is your basic up and down.

Atom PC in a toy Ferrari

Atom PC in a toy Ferrari Yesterday we saw a PC in a vase at Computex, today it’s an Atom-based net-top in a Ferrari. There isn’t much info about it. We simply know that it has the guts of a netbook and appears to be sticking it’s tongue out in the form of a CD tray.

The body is custom-molded as well as the optical drive tray. I proclaim thee a thing of awesomeness. Other things we would like to see PCs crammed inside? Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, Barbie’s Dream car and the Batmobile, just to name a few.

The 17 inch doll is the perfect size to upset your wife as it sleeps between you both. Or if not married, he’ll be your surrogate wife.

Wolverine cable holderNormally Wolverine’s claws will shred anything that they come into contact with. Luckily the adamantium skeleton in this Wolverine Mighty Muggs figure isn’t so strong.

This was once a simple Wolverine figure, but some outside of the box thinking has turned Logan into an effective iPod cable manager. Proof that simple toys can sometimes help keep your gadgets tidy on your desk. It’s only $15 and probably has some other uses as well.

Underground Time Capsule comes too late for my childhood

Underground Time Capsule comes too late for my childhoodKids are like dogs. They make messes, they dig stuff, they bury stuff…Some slobber all over themselves. They love to bury things and dig them up like 20 years later. Check out this awesome toy that I never had as a kid. The Underground Time Capsule.

It’s designed to go underground and hide precious objects for future generations(Or yourself) to find. You know, Baseball cards, bottle caps, a porn mag or two. What makes this so interesting is that it makes the process easier for you with a screw-on rock at the top, allowing you to add new items without digging it up again.

Mattel trains young Jedis with Mindflex

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on February 15th, 2009

If you’ve ever dreamed of being a Jedi and having the ability to move objects with your mind, your dreams are about to come true. Mindflex is the new mental acuity game from Mattel, arriving this fall. It may not let you lift an X-Wing out of a Dagobah swamp, but you will be able to move a ball with the power of your mind.

A lightweight headset with sensors measures your brainwave activity. When you focus your concentration, a small foam ball will rise on a gentle stream of air. Relax your mind and the ball will drop. It’s not just mental, there’s also some physical stuff involved as you try to guide the ball through a customizable obstacle course.
