Throat microphones have enjoyed some popularity with the military and police, but they haven’t caught on with civilians yet. The Sanwa Throat microphone might be the one that catches the average user’s attention. At least Sanwa hopes so. It doesn’t hurt that it looks like a high-tech choker. Just bedazzle it and the ladies will dig it. It isn’t threatening looking.

It puts the microphone against your throat, eliminating most of the background noise and working in conditions where the background noise is loud. No word on pricing or availability yet. Even though it looks silly, it could catch on in a big way.

German watchmakers Retrowerk have introduced a new range of Steampunk watches. While they don’t shout Steampunk at the top of their lungs, they sort of raise their voice as it were.

They sport the usual Steampunk design cues, like pistons, cogs, gears, revolving jump hour discs and so on. They’re a tad more affordable than most high-end watches, priced between $429 to $1098. Handlebar mustache and bowler hat not required, but they help.

The line of Kisai aluminum LED watches from Tokyoflash has just been upgraded and this has to be one of the more striking pieces we’ve seen in some time.

You get your choice of case and strap color combinations, each featuring multicolored LEDs beneath black acrylic lenses. The wrist band design has the appearance of a one-piece bracelet and is easily adjustable for different wrist sizes. This one features an animation mode so that once every minute for 12 minutes after the time is displayed, the LEDs rotate on and off in a circular formation.

The Atari Joystick design lends itself to all kinds of mods and uses, other then the joystick it started out as. The Atari Joystick lamp comes to mind. This ceramic candle holder is yet another incarnation of the classic controller.

It’s perfect for the geek who wants to fly his geek flag and at the same time set the mood. Just dim the lights. Play your favorite Atari game sounds soundtrack and light your joystick candle. What could be more romantic? Dinner is almost done and your date will arrive soon my nerd friend. The only question is, will she be game for playing some Space Invaders for dessert? Or will she run like all the others?

If PCs were being made in the 1950′s they would look a lot like this. Why not? It will match the ’57 Chevy parked in your driveway. Thomas Thomassen created this beautiful retro media center PC for his final project in BA (Hons) model making for design and media at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth.

Obviously he knows what he’s doing. It reminds me of the old Bakelite radios from the 1940′s-50′s. He created most of the parts through the process of vacuum forming. Some inside specs include: VIA Epia 13000 miniITX, SilenX CPU fan, 1GB RAM, 100GB 2.5″ Harddrive and a Soundgraph iMON Remote Control.

Here’s a great design that can’t make up it’s mind as to whether it’s from the future or the past. We like it. The Time Tuner was created by Istanbul-based Antrepo Design Industry, who decided against the traditional digital clock face. It instead boasts an analog style that resembles a radio tuner.

It’s a lot like our favorite watches from Tokyoflash. The numbers along the length of the dial light-up to show you the hour. At the same time, an illuminated vertical red line moves across the dial for minutes. If you’re looking for a clock with style, look no further.

Tenmetsu is the latest addition to the brand new line of Kisai timepieces from Japanese watch importer Tokyoflash. The idea behind this one is that with three LEDs positioned beneath each lens, you’ll get a transition between LED colors, creating an unusual look. And it does. As usual Tokyoflash comes up with a unique design.

This one is nice and light weight because it’s made from aluminum. You can get one in either silver or black. So how do you read the time on this one? The time and date are shown in sequence by color. Red LEDs indicate 15 units, amber LEDs indicate 5 units and green LEDs indicate 1 unit, a combination of which present hours, minutes, months and date. Still confused? Me too.

Here’s the latest from Tokyoflash, who aims to start a fire on your wrist. This one is designed vertically with Yellow LEDs that will tell you the hours, red LEDs indicate groups of 10 minutes and the green LEDs indicate single minutes. As always, hard to read for some, but very stylish and futuristic. It features an adjustable strap and they claim that it’s so comfortable you barely know it’s on your wrist. You can get yours for a limited time only launch price of about $130.

Everything has to look stylish now, even the old shredder. The 5 Sheet Crosscut Studio Shredder from Black and Decker might actually look good in your home office and not immediately scream shredder. Looks like they would go well with certain Dell laptops. With a 4″ space saving, slim design you can put it anywhere.

It features sliding feet that stabilize it so it won’t fall over and die. Comes in the black and red. There is a cost to it’s slimness however. It only shreds 5 sheets of paper… Hmmm. Good for the slow or small office then. It retails for $49.99.

This Steampunk creation is pretty cool. There’s just so much of it that you have no wrist left and it looks like it would give you carpal tunnel syndrome and make one arm look like a weight lifter while the other is thin and geek-like. Sure is a lot of leather work around the metal flip-open watch.

It does have a certain authentic antique look about it. And I can’t tell you what the whole finger strap is about because my translation skills aren’t up to it. My guess is that you wear this while riding your bicycle and when you see a pretty lady, you activate a bell with your finger that dings, letting the Victorian hottie know that you noticed. Then one day they’ll invent the bicycle bell and your wrist can be free.
