It’s nice to see geeky parents starting their little geeklings off early on tech. My kids really like my iPad but agree it’s a pain to look down at the screen. One 10-year-old boy from Jersey decided to make his own iPad stand.

The stand is made from a couple chunks of wood, a hinge, and a couple drawer knobs. All of the materials are said to cost about $13.

Another benefit is that it’s very sturdy. It’s the first iPad stand that guarantees no movement when using the iPad’s touch screen. The Joule is available now for a hefty $129. Is it worth it? You be the judge.

Here’s something different in an iPhone stand. It’s a little more creative than most. The Spoon And Fork iPhone Stand. It’s how Uri Geller uses his iPhone. These folk art type stands come from Etsy seller ForkedUpArt, who is not only good with a pun, but great at bending utensils.

If you need your iPhone stand spoon-fed to you, then you won’t mind forking over $30 each for these. They have character and more personality than other stands.

The stands are flat piece of flexible plastic that bend in a semi-circle and a lip catches on the iPhone to keep the iBend stand upright. The iPhone is then held in an upright position for watching video hands free.

Nuts and Bolts iPhone stand

Nuts and Bolts iPhone standWe’ve seen our share of custom iPhone docks, but this one takes a minimalist engineering approach. The Nuts and Bolts dock is built from… Well, nuts and a large bolt. The connector is attached to a piece of perspex which holds the iPhone in place.

It was created by one Frederick P Weller and we have to reluctantly admit that we like his approach. Very machine age and industrial looking. And obviously easy to make should you want to try your hand at it. Assuming you have the nuts to pull it off. Oh and the long bolt.
