Sprint taking pre-orders for HTC 7 Pro December 8th?

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on November 1st, 2010

The rumor is that Sprint is taking preorders for the HTC 7 Pro on December 8th. This is the company’s first Windows Phone 7 offering and it makes sense as it goes with HTC’s previous announcement of the HTC 7 Pro, saying it will be available only in the first half of next year. So a preorder at the end of the year would fit into the overall plan.

No word on pricing yet for HTC’s 7 Pro, but it shouldn’t be anything unexpected with a contract. We expect more leaks to slip out very shortly.

HTC Knight coming to Sprint

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on October 24th, 2010

A new Android device may be hitting Sprint soon. The alleged HTC Knight. The device features a similar design to the EVO 4G, though if you compare them side-by-side, you’ll notice several differences, the most obvious being the different earpiece and additional space below the buttons.

This just might be a CDMA version of the Desire Z, since some literature associated with the device implies that it has a sliding screen (and a slide-out keyboard of course). Hopefully we will know more soon.

Sprint prepping iPod touch case with Wi-Fi hotspot?

Posted in Sprint by Conner Flynn on July 29th, 2010

Check this out. An FCC filing has signaled a unique Sprint plan to capture Apple device users. A ZTE device called the Peel would serve as an iPod touch case but would hold a full 3G-to-Wi-Fi mobile hotspot in its back. This would give the iPod and other nearby devices, an always-on 3G connection without needing a separate MiFi.

The Peel’s capabilities aren’t fully known, but it would obviously have its own battery; there’s no Dock Connector or similar attachment to whatever device it would hold. A mini USB port on one side will let owners charge from a computer or the wall power adapter.

Sprint Epic 4G could arrive on August 20

Posted in Sprint by Conner Flynn on July 25th, 2010

How do we know? Simple. We know this because the phone has appeared on the Samsung TV site schedule with that date. No psychic powers here. History has shown us that Samsung did the same thing with AT&T’s version (the Captivate), and T-Mobile’s Vibrant, so it isn’t hard to figure out.

This phone should arrive on or around August 20 if you are interested.

This phone has military grade ruggedness and push-to-talk capabilities. Sadly, Android 1.5 is getting old but it might be better than what you have now. It will cost you $149.99 with a two-year contract.

Sprint says EVO 4G shortage is hurting 4G lead

Posted in Sprint by Shane McGlaun on July 12th, 2010

It’s been a long time since Sprint had a handset that most people actually wanted. The Evo 4G that landed on the Sprint network back in May was popular from the start and shortages quickly ensued.

The Evo 4G is the first smartphone to support 4G service with Sprint, which is WiMax. The WSJ reports that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has stated that the shortage of the Evo 4G is hurting the lead Sprint has in 4G service.

Sprint Evo with Two-Way Video Chat coming in June for $200

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on May 13th, 2010

The Sprint Evo 4G will be on sale for $200, with contract, on June 4th. It will feature two-way video chat on 3G and 4G networks, hence the forward-facing camera. Looks like it will run Qik, a third party app, which probably means that you can make cellphone-to-computer calls.

WiMax is going to cost you an extra $10 a month as a “Premium Data add-on,”. You can still use the Evo 4G as a hotspot for up to eight devices, but it’s going to cost an extra $30 a month to do so.
