Sony Ericsson intros round cellphone speakerIt’s round. It’s a speaker. It’s from Sony Ericsson. I’ll be honest, I don’t get these cell phone speakers, but Sony Ericsson thinks that you will want the MS500, so you can share music with your friends and whatnot.

It’s exactly what it looks like, a round portable speaker that connects to your phone via Bluetooth to play your tunes wherever you happen to be. It can hang on your belt loop with the included strap, and has 5 hours of battery life. Tell me honestly dear reader, do any of you actually use these cell phone speakers? I don’t. I just don’t get it myself.

Sony Ericsson’s “Reese” flip QWERTY smartphone? If the above picture is to be believed, Sony Ericsson will soon be releasing a new swivel QWERTY called the “Reese” that features one-click access to all of “your favorite networking sites.” There aren’t many other details beyond this.

Therefore, we aren’t quite sold just yet. The large portrait screen would allow you to view several messages of any one kind in HD. If it exists, it’s too early to pin down an OS, but it is possible it could be Windows Mobile or even Android. But honestly if this is real, it isn’t that exciting.

Guy steals prototype phones from Sony EricssonThe details are a bit sketchy, but the word coming out of Sweden is that some 35-year-old tech obsessed dude was brazen enough to steal several prototype phones from Sony Ericsson’s Lund offices on Monday or Tuesday. As you might expect, he was arrested on Wednesday when police found the prototypes at his home. Oh and he apparently also had a hundred other phones.

According to Sony Ericsson, the thief wasn’t employed by them, but had a “working relationship” with the company. They think he used a pass card to gain entry to the building. Police also got their hands on a laptop with some questionable content. They’re estimating the total value of the theft totaled about $90,000.

Sony Ericsson Xmini Handset

Posted in Sony Ericsson by Conner Flynn on December 8th, 2008

Sony Ericsson Xmini HandsetSony Ericsson has turned their latest entry-level music cell phone into a pocket-friendly device. It measures in at 75mm x 44mm x 18mm. Known as the Xmini, the handset will be available from KDDI and as you can see from the pic above, it’s a slider that hides touch sensitive buttons.

You get essentially the same features of a basic normal-sized music phone, they just managed to squeeze into the small device. Some of those features include Bluetooth, basic messaging, MP3 ringtone support and audio playback. Not really that big a deal, but it’s really cute tiny. Chances are we won’t be seeing it here in the US.
