It looks like Microsoft’s Kinect is really paying off. Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop are all reporting that they are selling out of the Kinect hardware, though there are still some 360 bundles available apparently.

Many gamers aren’t drawn in by the family-friendly advertising, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the sales. It just went on sale a few days ago. It brings back memories of Wii shortages all over again. Things are looking great right now, however look at how quickly “Wii fever” dropped. Will the same thing happen here after initial shortages? Time will tell. But for now, Microsoft is loving it.

Well, that didn’t take long. Amazon only announced the third generation Kindle last week, and started selling it, now it seems that this new lower priced Kindle has been extremely popular as it is now sold out until September. Both the WiFi and 3G models of the new Amazon Kindle are ‘temporarily sold out’ and new orders may not ship until the 4th of September 2010.

Obviously the big draw is the new price. The WiFi only model retails for $139 and a 3G model retails for $189 and the new Kindle is thinner and lighter than the previous model.

Today Amazon set some tongues wagging by running out of stock of the six-inch Kindle. In the first shortage since 2009, the reader is listed as unavailable but more interestingly doesn’t have an estimated in-stock date. Shoppers are simply told that they will be e-mailed when Amazon learns more.

It could just be due to the price drop to $189. The Kindle device did see sales spike after the cut. The timing is curious though, since the next-generation Kindle is rumored to be shipping in August. Hopefully the next Kindle will have more in common with the iPad.

According to Verizon, the company had “done everything possible” to make sure there was an adequate supply of the Droid X, but I guess they had no idea that the demand, much like the Droid Incredible would be overwhelming.

The Motorola handset is already out of stock online (right now with a ten-day delay) and in many retail stores as well. Verizon confirmed the shortages, saying that the company was pleased with initial sales, and that though they were “successful at keeping up with early demand” supplies are “low or out.”

Amazon is having some trouble. Maybe they didn’t count on Oprah selling so many units. Maybe they just are really bad at stock management. Whatever the case, shipping on the Kindle ebook reader is currently listed as 11 to 13 weeks time, completely overshooting Christmas and making deliveries at some point in Q1 2009. This will be the second year in a row that the retailer could not meet demand. Last year, with the device being new, Amazon could at least use the excuse that they were ramping up production.

It was back in October that Oprah Winfrey endorsed the Kindle. Amazon is also rumored to be preparing the Kindle’s replacement, which was once expected to be on the market this holiday season, but now it is expected to be delayed until Q1 2009.

Wii Fit is set to become the fastest selling Wii game ever. It’s outdone all previous records on Play.com by selling out its entire allocation in just one day. Wii Fit will be launching in the UK on April 25 and according to Play.com they have been “overwhelmed” by demand for the new game that isn’t really a game, but rather a fitness aid.

When it debuted in Japan 4 months ago, the exergame sold more than a million copies in the first month. That’s in a nation with around five million Wiis in use, so that’s nothing to sneeze at. Play.com is expecting to get more in stock before launch. It seems that people really do want to get healthy. Well, as long as there’s a Wii involved at any rate.
