AnyDATA unveils two 7-inch Qualcomm Snapdragon Android Tablets

AnyDATA has announced two 7-inch tablets to the already crowded market. The first is the AMD120 model with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Then there’s the higher end AMD810 model which sports a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3G, and will ship with Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Both share the same design.

Both feature a 1024 x 600 resolution 7-inch capacitive touch display, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, front and rear cameras, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and gryoscope. They weigh 440g.

Lenovo delays launch of Skylight to better compete against iPad

According to Digitimes, Lenovo has delayed the launch of its Skylight smartbook from April to July in order to improve the device’s working performance and is targeting iPad as the device’s competitor. This is because Skylight uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor with a Linux-based operating system and is mainly for online activities.

But since it doesn’t function as smoothly as the iPad and doesn’t have as many functions, Lenovo has decided to postpone the launch in order to improve it.

Lenovo Skylight, the first ARM-based Snapdragon Smartbook

The Skylight is Lenovo’s first ARM-based Snapdragon Smartbook. Qualcomm is providing its 1GHz Snapdragon chipset. It features a 10.1″ screen and will weigh less than two pounds. Lenovo says that it gets 10 hours-plus of active battery life as well.

Skylight will be paired with AT&T for 3G, along with its own built-in Wi-Fi. Some other features include a full keyboard and a custom interface that uses “web gadgets” for direct access to popular services like Gmail and Facebook.

Toshiba’s TG01 running Snapdragon, launched as T-01A in Japan

Toshiba's TG01 running Snapdragon, launched as T-01A in JapanOne of the hottest and thinnest handsets of this year just made its way to Japan. It’s completely anorexic at less than a centimeter thick. Which is the main thing it has going for it. The NTT DoCoMo T-01A is the same TG01 device revealed by Toshiba back in February running Qualcomm’s ultra-fast 1GHz Snapdragon chipset.

It also features a 4.1-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) resistive touchscreen display; HSDPA, GPS, and WiFi radios; and Toshiba’s custom UI meant to mask its Windows Mobile 6.1 core. Now that Toshiba has unleashed it Japan we look forward to seeing the TG01 launch in Europe and everywhere else.
