iPad 2 details surface

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on November 26th, 2010

Digitimes is reporting that Apple will be adding five new features to the iPad 2. These include video chat, a thinner glass panel for better portability, a USB port, new display technology and 3-axis gyroscopes. The video chat we’re talking about is likely FaceTime, so that means that the camera feature will be hitting the iPad.

The improved display could be Apple’s Retina Display. The USB port would be very welcomed by everyone. We’ll have to see how this rumor pans out. It does all make sense, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

Will Apple release the iPad 2 next April?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on November 22nd, 2010

That’s the word on the street. That Apple will be launching an iPad 2 next April. Of course we all knew that Apple wasn’t going to stop with just one iPad. Analyst Brian Marshall of Gleacher thinks that the iPad 2 will be coming out once the CDMA version of the iPhone hits the market.

The rumor can be traced to Digitimes, who says that Apple has commissioned several companies to roll out high density interconnect boards for the device. We know it’s coming and right now April seems like a good bet.

iPad 2 commercials already shot by Apple?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on November 8th, 2010

Word is that Apple has already started to shoot ads for a new iPad 2 in New York with British photographer David Sims. Take this with a grain of salt for now as there is no evidence, not even a leaked document or a blurry image.

However, you can bet an iPad 2 is coming at some point, but we will likely have to wait until at least next year. Until then we can all guess at just what the next iPad will offer.

EA confirms PSP2 exists

Posted in PSP by Conner Flynn on November 3rd, 2010

Game developer EA has acknowledged that it had seen at least details of Sony’s PSP2. Senior VP Patrick Soderlund wouldn’t say whether it included the actual hardware or target specifications but noted that as a developer, they have had access.

In case you missed it, rumors have been circulating that Sony has been showing the PSP2 to developers to get them ready for development, but we don’t yet know the exact nature of the design. Some rumors give this new handheld as much power as an Xbox 360, with a backside touchpad and other additions. Performance isn’t likely to be that high, but it may use Android to run the same games and apps as the PlayStation phone.

Apple cancels white iPhone 4?

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on October 27th, 2010

The saga of the White iPhone 4 continues. Last night Apple announced that the company would further delay the release of the white iPhone 4 and now some additional information points toward the fact that Apple actually has no plans to roll out a white version of the iPhone 4.

The “delay” might actually suggest an iPhone 5 release time-frame of June or July 2011. Of course, no one knows for sure. I guess there’s always Colorware standing by to spruce up your device.

More details on the PSP2

Posted in PSP by Conner Flynn on October 25th, 2010

Lately we’ve been hearing new reports of the PSP2. There’s talk of a touchpad on the back of the device for one thing. Apparently Sony has been showing it off to some developers. And now Kotaku has learned a few more details, like a larger display, an inch larger than the current PSP’s with high-def resolution.

Apparently Sony is still fine tuning the internal hardware, trying to overcome some overheating issues. They are looking at a release sometime in the fall of 2011. Probably for the 2011 E3.

Update: Facebook denies creating a Facebook Phone

Posted in Facebook by Conner Flynn on September 19th, 2010

If you had your hopes up for a new Facebook phone, well, you can forget it. Facebook spokesperson Jaime Schopflin has come out and denied that the social networking giant is creating a “Facebook phone.” It just isn’t happening.

“Facebook is not building a phone [...] building phones is just not what we do,” he said. Oh well, I guess Facebook addicts will just have to dream on and somehow get by.

Is Facebook building a phone?

Posted in Facebook by Conner Flynn on September 19th, 2010

According to TechCrunch’s sources, Facebook is creating its very own cellphone. Apparently, they’re building the OS and have tasked a hardware manufacturer to build everything else around it. When Google’s Nexus One was announced back in January, Facebook supposedly began planning this mystery phone.

They wanted something that would integrate Facebook contacts more deeply than anything Android or any other platforms had done before. Two Facebook employees, Joe Hewitt and Matthew Papakipos are leading the team involving the OS, using their previous experience as Firefox browser creator and Chrome OS builder to launch a Facebook worthy phone.

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on September 17th, 2010

T-Mobile subscribers might have something interesting to look forward to as the holiday season approaches, and we aren’t just talking the T-Mobile G2. It hasn’t been officially confirmed, but word is that T-Mobile is planning to make an Android-powered tablet available before Christmas.

What the device is wasn’t mentioned, but speculation is that it could be something from LG’s Optimus series of phones, or maybe even Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, which we already know is headed for T-Mobile. We should know soon.

iPad headed to Target on October 3rd?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on September 13th, 2010

Apple iPad launchRumor is that the iPad might hit Target stores in October. There’s no concrete proof yet, but some info from a tipster seems to suggest just that. Among the compelling evidence is a list featuring a mysteriously unnamed product that’s set to become available on October 3rd (in six different versions), and a series of images from a Target PDA that seem to show that the item numbers match the iPad prices exactly.

Also it will be located in the Digital Audio section, which is apparently how e-readers like the Kindle are classified, as well as iPods.

New Zune HD coming soon?

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2010

When it comes to design, the Zune HD is one of the best. So we are glad to know that a new version may be in the works. ZDNet thinks that some new Zune hardware is coming soon. We don’t have much in the way of details, but speculation is that it would be packing an ARM CPU with some software tricks from Windows Phone 7.

Whatever the case, we should know by early 2011 as that’s when it would arrive.

iPhone 4 to arrive on T-Mobile on July 30th?

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2010

Take this one with the necessary grains of salt as it is just a rumor at the moment, but word is that the iPhone 4 might be arriving on T-Mobile’s network on July 30th. If the rumor turns out to be true, the iPhone 4 will be offered without a pay-as-you-go option.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors that T-Mobile would be getting the iPhone and as usual there’s nothing concrete to confirm it. We’ll leave it to you to decide if it’s true or not.

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on July 7th, 2010

Take this with whatever size grains of salt you must, as this is just a rumor at this point, but word is that HTC is prepping the HTC Ace. It is rumored to look something like the HTC Droid Incredible.

It’s too early to tell when this phone will be arriving, if true, but some specifications reportedly include a large 4.3-inch AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel camera with flash, Android 3.0, and it will be powered by a dual-core Snapdragon CPU.

Sony PSP-4000 to launch in 2010?

Posted in PSP by Conner Flynn on June 28th, 2010

Will we get a PSP-4000 in 2010? We just might, according to the publication of a document that refers to an upcoming PSP-4000 by Japanese retailer Geo. It has sparked some rumors on the web. The document is in Japanese and says that the PSP-4000 will be on store shelves this year along with the Nintendo 3DS.

Problem is that Nintendo expects the 3DS to be available in the first quarter of 2011. And why wouldn’t Sony have started some hype at E3? Still, you never know.

iPod touch with 2 megapixel camera leaked

Posted in iPod Touch by Conner Flynn on May 19th, 2010

Tinhte, those folks from Vietnam have yet another Apple leak. The first pics of the iPod touch with a camera. The “DVT-1″ stamp on the back shows that this is an early design verification test unit in product testing. So this is probably not the final design. The device’s serial number identifies a late 2009 third generation iPod touch so it may be a prototypes that never made it to production.

The Foxconn label appears to indicate a 64GB model as well as a 2 megapixel, backside illuminated sensor made by Omnivision. The Apple rumors and leaks just keep coming.
