I think there are two things in this universe that you can safely say that geeks love. Atari 2600 and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Being a geek myself who loves both, this is exactly how I would have made the movie.

Here’s the latest awesome looking, but hard to read Tokyoflash watch. This one is called Galaxy and features a “powerful formation of multi-colored light bars, developed using digital tube technology”. It also has a “custom linked, brushed silver strap”. But here’s what you really want to know. How do you read the time?

Hitting the upper button starts an animation, then it will show you the time. The twelve yellow bars are hours going in a clock wise direction, the red bars are groups of five minutes and the four green bars are single minutes. If you use the lower button it will show you the time immediately. It will cost you about $132 USD. Love em or hate em Tokyoflash is making the world look like Sci-Fi one wrist at a time.

Rotary dial phones seem to be making a comeback, at least in gadgets if not actual phones. First there was the rotary dial app for iPhone. Now we have the Zihotch Retro Phone Watch, which is a pretty unique watch.

So how do you tell what time it is? You need to make a phone call to find out. Just dial 117 and the you’ll get the time from a recorded voice. Dial the wrong number and you get, “We are sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service. Please check and call again.” It can also be used as an alarm. It can be yours for $79.99.

Who doesn’t love Space Invaders? Answer: Those being invaded of course. Say you’re chillin’ in your room, by the gentle light of your Space Invaders lamp. Just outside your window, the moonlight gently illuminates their latest message to Earth. Soon the invasion will begin. But you don’t need to worry about that. Not after selling out your entire race. You will be spared and given your own island in the Bahamas.

What better way to drown out the sound of human extinction, then by donning a pair of retro Space Invaders headphones. They can be pre-ordered and will ship in mid-late October 2008 for $19.90. They’re free to traitors.

The Wii has changed the face of gaming with it’s interactive motion controls. So much so, that every other console has begun work on their own version. Just as the Wii has changed gaming, gamers are constantly changing the Wii console itself, giving it all kinds of personalities. Here’s a look at some of our favorites.

I love all kinds of stuff with vacuum tubes. They just look cool and remind me of a different era. I love me some iPod docks with tubes, amps, and clocks. Even this “test tube” clock looks pretty neat, even if they’re not real vacuum tubes or test tubes that have chemicals in them or a tiny lifeform.

It’s basically just a bunch of numbers with glass domes over each. It doesn’t quite match the style and warmth of a Nixie clock, but hey to each his own. It does have a cool retro look. It’s $75.

If you love robots like I do, you’ll notice very quickly the complete lack of robot flash drives. Where’s the robot love? Team is doing something about that with their “T-Bot R50″ robot-shaped flash drives that were shown off at the Computex event. Looks like they’ll come in 1GB,2GB,4GB and 8GB sizes. You can choose between red, white, blue or black. They have a cool retro look.

I never expected that the Space Invaders would go all Politically Correct, but hell everyone else has. Probably the head Invader realized that for like almost forty years now, the invasion hasn’t exactly been working,(Merchandise aside) so they needed a new image. Invaders sounds so cold, no one likes an invasion. Intruderz is pretty much the same, but less formal, not as cold and ruthless. But the truth is I don’t think Taito knows about it. shhhhh.

I’m not telling them either, because I love these little guys. They retail for about $48 or so, and they are the perfect gift for any gamer who grew up watching these guys when they still invaded.

I don’t know who had the idea, but all I can say is that the end result is pretty awesome looking. It’s like wearing a mix tape on your wrist, without the often annoying music of the era. It’s made of sturdy stuff, namely stainless steel and features twin dials. One for hours, one for minutes.

The detail on the cassette face is really awesome and authetic looking. The hands almost look like they are advancing the tape. The only way it could possibly be any cooler is if it played real music, which it doesn’t. It will cost you about $70. Expect an 8-Track watch in the near future.

Sometimes the coolest gadgets in Sci-Fi are not gadgets at all. But robots. Here’s a look at some of the most memorable robots from sci-fi in no particular order. It’s not a complete list. Think of it more as a walk down memory lane. Because geeks love Sci-Fi and Sci-Fi has a long history of loving robots.

Arcade gamers have a ton of choices these days. Dream Arcades has just come out with another, called the Dreamcade Vision 29 Arcade. The limited edition gaming arcade machine has a bumped up screen size of 29 inches. That makes the Vision 29 the Donkey Kong of gaming arcade machines and it has a whopping 200 games.

If that’s still not enough, you can add more games. It also has plenty of analog game control options on its keyboard, which can be fully customized with your own color options. Other features include an MP3 jukebox so you can have some tunes while playing. It can be yours for $2499.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted to play hockey with Donkey Kong. It’s just a dream of mine. I’m a geek. I know he wouldn’t perform well on the ice since he’s so big, so I know I can save the Princess. I’ll finally get my chance.

The Micro VS System was released in 1984 and is one of the earliest consoles that let’s you play against another player and with DK. With the console’s two handhelds, two players can join a game by sharing the screen between them. They are pretty hard to find, but the good news is that Play-Asia.com got hold of a limited quantity of brand new factory sealed consoles. Better hurry.

It might help to have arms like the hulk to wear this monstrosity. It’s yet another of those odd watches we love from Basel Fair. It’s not for the feint of heart and it’s not for puny men with spaghetti arms. It goes by the “Chronoswiss Wristmaster”. Look at the size of this thing. It master’s any wrist it attaches to. Putting it on must be like saddling a small horse.
