Apple confirms glitch with Verizon iPad 2

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 10th, 2011

Remember when iPhone owners complained about AT&T’s network and could not wait for the day they could use their Apple devices on Verizon’s network? It wasn’t so long ago. Well, we have iDevices on Verizon now and guess what? It isn’t all it was cracked up to be. The grass always seems greener on the other side.

Verizon iPad 2 users are having reboot problems. Apple calls the number of users with problems “small”, but they have acknowledged the problem after message boards went crazy this week with customers complaining they are having difficultly accessing Verizion Wireless’s 3G data network.

Verizon 3G iPad 2 owners report reboot problem

Looks like Verizon-based Apple gadgets have a recurring reboot problem. Owners of Verizon’s native iPad 2 with both Wi-Fi and 3G (in 16, 32 and 64GB memory configurations) are complaining that they have to reboot their devices if they want to connect to 3G after previously switching that feature off.

Wi-Fi works just fine apparently, but 3G connections can take several minutes or just never happen. It doesn’t seem like all Verizon iPad 2 users are having this problem, but the complaints from those who are affected are very similar. It just goes to show that Verizon has it’s own set of problems with iDevices, much like At&t

Ctrl-Alt-Del pillows for a style reboot

Ctrl-Alt-Del pillows for a style rebootThe Mac fanboys have their Mac-O-Lantern pillows. Your laptop has the Log pillow. These pillows can be just for you.

They’ll give you a style reboot just by being there. But be careful. Leaning on all three at once will warp time and space, changing the reality around you. Might be a good idea to have a task manager blanket handy.

The New U.S.S. Enterprise

The New U.S.S. EnterpriseOr, the old one actually. But new to us in 2008. The above pic should get your geek juices flowing like Romulan ale at a Klingon orgy. The first look at J.J.’s Enterprise. It’s a mash-up of the classic and movie versions of the ship. It’s pretty sweet looking. JJ Abrams was struck by that scene in ST: The Motion Picture where Kirk takes a shuttlecraft to the ship and we get a nice long look that shows us all of the stunning detail, including many of the individual tiles that make up the hull. Apparently there will be a similar scene in the new flick. What do you guys think? You like?

Reboot: The self-sufficient house rebooted

Reboot: The self-sufficient house rebooted
Imagine a future where homes look like oversized futuristic gadgets rather then the same old stale design. The Reboot is designed not just to look pleasing, but also to be entirely self-sufficient. It has energy collecting solar paint, wind turbines and a rainwater collection system, for hydroelectric energy and water for the house.

The designer incorporates a variety of different renewable energy options together. Some of the features inside include, voice activated house controls and terminals throughout the structure that link to your home computer and phone line. It would be awesome to live in this house, but everytime I turned my back on it, I would feel like it was about to zap me with a plasma beam.
