I love pinball, but I don’t think I’m lazy enough to play it vertically…with a remote. Okay, maybe I would. There may be a few benefits to upright pinball: Like not hurting your back, being able to sit comfortably, it saves space in your home etc. But at $119.95 it’s cheaper to play one of the many far superior console versions of pinball. Plus that HUGE remote isn’t a winning me over. No, it’s not a good idea to play pinball in this sacrilegious manner. You will look like a tool because that’s what you are.

As far as I’m concerned the best Trek Vehicle ever is the Final Frontier bike, but this RC Enterprise glider sure looks like a ton of fun too. It took a long time, but we finally have a remote controlled Star Trek ship. For the most part, it’s just as graceful as the real deal and seeing the Enterprise soar through the air gets my geek blood boiling.

It’s made of foam and features a touch-control controller designed to look like the communicator from the original series. Check out the video below. The thing even flies after it took a hard landing and lost a nacelle. Also near the end the operator manages to make the smoothest landing the enterprise has ever seen on or off the movie screen. The Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 should arrive in May of 2009 and can now be pre-ordered for $79.99.

Check out this limited edition RC Dalek all polished and buffed to blind it’s enemies and make the Doctor stop and check his hair in it’s reflection. This particular Dalek is based on the “Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 AD” movie. It’s 12-inches tall, radio-controlled and features a pullback motor with realistic Dalek action. I assume that means it yells “exterminate” and generally tries to kill anything different then itself. Also has a built-in speaker that plays you quotes from the movie.

This my friends is shiny Dalek bling for eager geek hands. And since it’s very special and ultra shiny, only 1,000 are made. Should be available in August 2008, and can be pre-ordered for $99.99.

For some reason Tomy decided to release a new See-through R2-D2 with lightsaber remote. I guess they like their droids looking like ice.

R2 does everything that previous models have done, like move forward or turn on command, rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor “eye”. All while looking “chill” this time. This version should probably be serving drinks on Hoth. Well, it is a Star Wars item, so you might want to buy one or two less comics this month with your allowance.

Over at Evil Mad Scientist there is an easy DIY project that will make cleaning fun and better yet, it might encourage your slacker kids to help out a little. Hit the link if you want to see how simple it is.

Basically an unprinted circuit board is attached to an RC car of your choice which is used to mount a dust mop. After that it’s just cleaning and play. This has to be dirt cheap to produce in a factory. Remote controlled cleaning would sell a bunch of cleaning supplies. They got everyone to buy swiffers after all. Check out the video below.

I don’t care who you are, it doesn’t get much funnier then the elderly treating their wheelchair like a hot-rod and just gunning it. Previously, if you wanted to see the geriatric in racing form, you had to play slot car racing grannies.

Thankfully, someone has expanded the premise to include an old woman in a grocery store, with slippery floors and plenty of canned goods to crash into. The handicap ramp should provide some airborn Dukes Of Hazard moments too. It will cost you about $36. Good fun. It will give you something to think about the next time you’re in line behind an old woman with a change purse.

Lucas long ago figured out that a geek and his money soon part ways when you make things look like R2-D2. This one is perhaps dorkier then most, because what we have here amounts to a remote control lightsaber, which you use to send your remote webcam wheeling to and fro in order to capture footage of your immediate area. For the price of £299.00 what you get is a basic VGA resolution camera in droids clothing.

The lightsaber has light and sound effects from the films and the stand connects to your USB port so that R2 can be controlled wirelessly. The webcam comes pre-loaded with R2 sound effects as well. For the price you figure they’d at least throw in a restraining bolt. Or some leg rockets…

This device explains a long held theory of mine. Geordi LaForge was not blind, he was controlling remote-controlled vehicles when he should have been focusing on his engineering duties. The Pilot View FPV 2400 is designed for use with radio-controlled aircraft and cars.

There’s a wireless camera in the cockpit that sends live first-person footage to the freaky goggles that Fabio is wearing in the pic.(Wait that’s a gal. Sorry.) It’s a pretty awesome idea, but for $549, there are probably better ways to spend the money. And let’s face it, they need to up the design of the visor.

Then just keep the remote somewhere handy(Like that’s gonna happen.) and press the button when you want to turn the water on or off. Which is probably a good thing, since your cat will have some warning as Mario speeds down your hallway. You wouldn’t want Mario to run over Fluffy and spin out like he hit a banana peel.

You can add a little strategy to your in-pool battles with this remote controlled water cannon. It can be directed from up to 40 feet away and can launch a stream of water up to 20 feet. Dual Kort nozzles propel the rechargeable battery powered device to make tight turns and the cannon will elevate and lower its angle to get the right trajectory.

It comes in colors of yellow and orange which each run on different frequencies and sells for about $130. The remote controller is waterproof as well for complete in-water operation. If only there were a way to attach it to a large bottle of your favorite beverage and you could have a nice portable, remote-controlled drink dispenser… I love summer.
