Porsche has the new and bizarre looking Eton Porsche P’9120 stereo system with separate iPod dock and integrated AM/FM & DAB RDS radio. It almost looks like a retro projector.

It’s available for about $925. The iPod dock is equipped with an OLED display and a remote control with a torch built in for when you have the lights down low. Interestingly, the device is made from aluminum and has a double wall for superior sound enhancement

The solarDAB is what I would call retro-ugly. Meaning that it reminds me of some of the uglier aspects of yesterday’s gadgets…today. Ugly it may be, but it is the world’s first solar-powered DAB radio, from Roberts. It sports a top-mounted solar panel along with an indicator on the display that shows you the strength of the solar level being absorbed.

With the rechargeable batteries fully sun kissed, you’ll have tunes for an amazing 27 hours. Looks like they have a variety of colors to choose from for $158. Ugly, yes. But 27 hours of music is pretty awesome.

I don’t mean slider in the traditional sense. What I mean is that someone slid right off their rocker, or off the sober wagon or…something. No, this isn’t the top part to that scale that your doctor has in his office. It’s a radio with an interesting slide function, as in you slide the damn radio around to tune in the channel you want, instead of using a dial.

It may be a nice decoration, but I wouldn’t want to use it. At least this thing is cute. Hell, maybe I should invent a real long rail and slide my laptop up and down the thing to tune in websites. That would be swell and I wasn’t using all this living space anyway.

Gélule is a concept as strange as it’s name, by Pascal Bardel. It’s kind of a hard concept to swallow. Pun intended. It’s a radio clock shaped like a capsule with a backlit LCD display and an omni-directional speaker. They could use cloth of several colors to go with the color of the LCD display.

The volume can be adjusted by rotating the speaker. When you think about it, it’s really the perfect design for a clock radio, because it’s probably better to have this pill put you to sleep and wake you up. Video below.

Pure has now released their Pure One Mini, a portable radio measuring just 130 x 135 x 60mm. It will give you 20 hours of portable listening when fitted with the optional rechargeable ChargePAK.

The One Mini will also give you FM reception, an input for your iPod so you can use ONE Mini as a portable speaker, up to 16 presets, a headphone socket and a USB socket for future upgrades. It’s available now in the UK for £40 or $79 USD in three colors to choose from: black, white or pink.

Here’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. This device lives up to it’s name by recording all of your favorite songs directly from FM radio. It’s like they just flipped off the RIAA, or else they were not bright enough to realize that this would draw their attention. It will save your tracks as MP3 files onto an SD card, without the annoying advertisements and DJ talk. Isn’t that what you’ve been waiting for? It also has a USB port, line-in jack, and headphone plug. I would say grab one fast, as this is too good to be true and too up in the RIAA’s bidness. It will cost you £69.99.

The problem with the Radio City Valve Radio, aside from the fact that it doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, is that they just kinda slapped a bunch of stuff together and then went so far as to have a plaque on the front that says “Radio City”. Yeah, we’re going to Radio city. Not.

I’m pretty sure the glass or plastic tubes do nothing except emit that faint light you see. And am I seeing this right? It looks like they just went crazy and threw a heatsink behind them for pure kicks. Only our friends in China could show such a lack of style. I mean, the whole deal just looks unfinished and very toy-like.

Think you’ve seen it all in iPod docks? Think again. This thing packs a ton of WW2 nostalgia in a wood case, while also letting your iPod in on some 1940’s action. It blends the old with the new pretty nicely. It looks a bit more modern on top, while the bottom half resembles a period airplane cockpit.

It’s from the folks over at spiritofstlouis.co.uk, where you can find many such nostalgic radios with today’s technology inside. In addition to holding your iPod, this radio is a 3 Band radio with CD Player that can be powered by batteries or electric. Being a fairly unique item, it sells for £299.99.

I don’t care who you are, it doesn’t get much funnier then the elderly treating their wheelchair like a hot-rod and just gunning it. Previously, if you wanted to see the geriatric in racing form, you had to play slot car racing grannies.

Thankfully, someone has expanded the premise to include an old woman in a grocery store, with slippery floors and plenty of canned goods to crash into. The handicap ramp should provide some airborn Dukes Of Hazard moments too. It will cost you about $36. Good fun. It will give you something to think about the next time you’re in line behind an old woman with a change purse.

It makes sense to have man’s best friend on your desktop, serving your USB port and radio needs. Even if your robo-dog has a head that looks like it met a Mac truck head on. One rather creepy design aspect is that the head can be detached, giving you an instant portable radio with auto-scan from 88MHz to 108MHz.

Put it back on the body, and like a zombie reborn, it will turn it into a crappy computer speaker. It sports two USB 2.0 ports on each side.(If it spawns robo offspring, these are what they will suckle, getting precious mothers milk of USB juice.) $19.15 will get you this bizarre desk pet.

Who says there are no new ideas? The BBC are certainly not lacking in imagination. They commissioned this neat idea that combines social networking with a digital radio, and the end result is Olinda. On one hand, it’s a normal digital radio, but when you remove the clear orange cap, a plug-in interface is exposed.

You can add modules onto the end of it, like building with Legos. This one has small buttons that each correspond to one of your friends. A button lights up when one of your friends is listening to the radio, so if you push that button, you’ll hear the same radio station that your friend is listening to. The creators hope to develop more modules, thereby expanding the uses of the device.

I admit, I’m not much of a Disney fan. Even if I were, I think that having this thing on my desk would creep me out. Runat Japan just announced this CD player based on Stitch from Disney’s popular series ‘Lilo and Stitch’. Stitch’s mouth opens wide revealing the CD tray, the ears double as speakers and the teeth are the controls.

It’s got an AM/FM tuner and the onboard speakers have an output of 0.6W×2ch. Here’s a great design move: It runs on 3 D batteries, which will give you a whole hour of play. The player is a Japan only and will cost you $92.

It’s not quite summer yet, but if you have your pool ready to go, this floating Homer Simpson radio will let you listen to your favorite AM or FM radio station while you take it easy. Like you, Homer floats on his back with a can of Duff parked on his gut and not a care in the cartoon world.

The Duff can is used to tune the radio and adjust the volume. Apparently, he’s waterproof and requires a set of AAA batteries to run. He will cost you $40.

DVD may be dead or dying, but maybe it will be able to live again in your car. This touchscreen sun visor will allow the person sitting in the passenger seat to enjoy some entertainment. Not you though. You need to focus on the road.

Sagem is probably better known for their budget cell phones, but now they’re releasing the mydu@l radio700 WiFi Internet radio clock. It’s perhaps not the sexiest radio, but you won’t need any computer to use it, and it will be able to get up to 7,000 Internet radio stations as long as it’s within a WiFi zone.

It does terrestrial radio too, with an integrated FM tuner, and you can also hook up USB devices and playback MP3, WMA and WAV files from it. To top it all off, it has an alarm clock function with a snooze button. You can get the Sagem mydu@l radio 700 at the special introductory price of £79.99.
