Red HTC Inspire 4G exclusively at Radio Shack

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on June 5th, 2011

AT&T has allowed Radio Shack to offer an exclusive red version of the HTC Inspire 4G, and it has now been made official and is available now. You can get the phone for just $29.99 on a two-year AT&T contract or for $550 off-contract.

That gets you a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash and Android 2.2 with Sense. Radio Shack will still sell you a black one for the same price, but the red one is nice and flashy.

iPad 2 to be available at Radio Shack on Tuesday

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2011

Thanks to an internal corporate memo, we know that Apple is planning a deal with Radio Shack. About 500 stores US-wide are due to start carrying the iPad 2 on Tuesday, March 29. This is apparently a last-minute plan that had only been agreed upon in the “last few days.”

The company had a much wider launch with the iPad 2 than it had previously. Usually Apple waits until supply shortages have settled down or until it gets closer to the holidays, when the expansion can have a maximum effect. The more aggressive launch is likely due to battling Android tablets like the Motorola Xoom.

We already knew that Best Buy would start selling the T-Mobile G2 for $199, with a two year contract with T-Mobile. And now another retailer will offer a better deal. Radio Shack will be selling the T-Mobile G2 for $149.99 after rebates with a two year mobile service agreement, although we don’t know yet when the deal will be available.

The T-Mobile G2 will come with Android 2.2 Froyo, and will feature an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It will make use of T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network which will give you download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.

Radio Shack rebranded as "The Shack", now has a Massive KeyboardLooks like it’s official. Radio Shack will soon be known as “The Shack”, and their “San Francisco and New York Summer Netogether events promise to be speaker wire-riddled mayhem.” Wire riddled mayhem or not, they have revealed a massive keyboard to get things started.

According to a tipster, the Times Square version of the event will connect two gigantic, fake laptops with live webcam images of the two events being beamed across the country. So, they must be really serious about changing their image from a place where nerds buy parts for ham radios and such.

Radio Shack says rescan converter box after transition

radioshackdtx9550-sbI am getting tired of hearing about the digital transition. I thought we should have just switched in February as we had planned for over a year to digital broadcasts. So many people weren’t ready for the transition that it was delayed until June 12.

While more people are ready now according to some reports, there are still millions of people that have not prepared. Even Obama says there will be no more delays this time around. Those of you who are ready with your converters already may still have problems come June 12.

Radio Shack Acer Aspire OneIf you go down to your local AT&T store to buy a new phone or mobile broadband modem you expect AT&T to subsidize the price of the device in exchange for signing away two years of mobile carrier freedom.

According to a source at Engadget, Radio Shack of all places may be the first company to offer a subsidized 3G enabled netbook. The netbook in question is the Acer Aspire One, already the best selling netbook around right now.

3G iPhone will be available at Best Buy & Radio Shack
Apparently, the new iPhone won’t just be available in Apple and AT&T stores, but the 3G iPhone will also be available at other places like Best Buy and Radio Shack. Obviously it makes sense and makes it easier for consumers to spend their money. Many would say that it’s about time too.

The iPhone is scheduled to come out by the 11th of this month, but there are some details we just don’t have yet. These stores may not have the iPhone on the first day if Apple wants to be all “Apple stores first”. Either way, it just doesn’t pay to wait in line. Just relax. Take a deep breath. You’ll get one.
