It looks pretty cool. The remote should be available by year’s end, though it will most likely be up to cable companies to decide if they want customers to have access to this QWERTY remote.

Sure, there are plenty of QWERTY remotes available, but they just aren’t all that sexy. At least they weren’t, until now. Philips’ Home Control division is upping the sexy by launching this Dual remote just for you.

It’s a minimal remote on one side and the full QWERTY on the other. It sounds like there’s also an optical track pad in there as well. No release date or price yet, but we want one anyway.

A remote with a slide out QWERTY keyboard? This remote recently hit the FCC’s test bench. The Ti-Vo slide Bluetooth remote certainly looks odd, but very useful. But it’s only operational over Bluetooth.

It will be interesting to see how this fares once it hits the market. With no shipping date or price tag, we have no idea if this will be flying off shelves and into your waiting hands or sitting on shelves feeling all QWERTY with no where to go.

Full QWERTY Keyboard BlackBerry Pearl 9100?

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on March 4th, 2010

There’s no official confirmation on this just yet, so it resides in rumor territory at the moment, but check out this picture of a replacement keyboard for the BlackBerry Pearl 9100. If it’s real, then you may just get a full QWERTY keyboard on your 9100.

Last we heard, the 9100 would be using RIM’s SureType keyboard, but if this fits on the BlackBerry Pearl 9100, you might get a full QWERTY keyboard. Which would you want? I vote QWERTY.

Now here’s how you turn your iPhone into a PC. Ion has two prototype full-size keyboards for the Apple iPhone. As you can see you just dock your iPhone in and type away.

One of the prototypes uses flat, MacBook-style keys, and the other uses standard PC keyboard keys. It’s called the iType. The keyboard has its own battery, which can also charge the iPhone. I guess it’s a good idea if you are at home with a million emails to sort through.

RIM working on a touchscreen QWERTY slider hybrid?

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on September 28th, 2009

RIM working on a touchscreen QWERTY slider hybridWord on the street is that RIM is working on a new BlackBerry. One that will feature not just a touchscreen display, but also a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Such a device would definitely give users the best of both worlds and it adds flexibility.

The touchscreen would offer ease of use, while a QWERTY keyboard makes composing emails and text messages a breeze. At the moment this is just a rumor, but it wouldn’t surprise us at all.
