Hulu coming to PlayStation network soon

Posted in Hulu by Conner Flynn on June 25th, 2010

It’s been about 3 weeks since we heard rumors of Hulu coming to the Xbox 360 and the iPad as a paid service, and now Bloomberg is saying that Hulu is also in talks to become part of Sony’s Playstation Network and appear on the PS3 “soon.”

Soon could mean next week or next month. We don’t know. Hulu on PS3 is said to be a paid service, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Posted in Controllers,Games by Conner Flynn on June 23rd, 2010

No matter what game you are playing, this Tron controller makes it feel like you are playing Tron. PDP’s glowing TRON controllers will cost you $50 controllers and will be available this fall for PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.

PC gamers will also get a TRON-blue gaming keyboard and mouse from Razer. If you are going to play the upcoming Tron Evolution game for PC, 360, and PS3, it is mandatory that you use these controllers. And even if you aren’t a fan, they just look hot.

Gioteck HF-1 PS3 controller mixes Xbox DNA for comfort and style

Posted in Controllers,Games by Shane McGlaun on June 22nd, 2010

Some gamers get hooked on a specific control configuration when it comes to gaming and have a very hard time using anything else. Gioteck has announced a new Bluetooth PS3 controller called the HF-1 that uses the Xbox 360 controller layout.

The left analog stick and D-Pad are reversed from what a normal PS3 controller uses. The HF-1 does have some cool features. One of the cool features is a Flipswitch that changes the R1 and R2 positions for easy use.

GAEMS suitcase makes your Xbox 360 portable

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on June 20th, 2010

It isn’t very convenient to carry your Xbox 360 around for gaming on the go. However, that is about to change with the GAEMS Portable Console Gaming and Entertainment System. It carries an Xbox and a 15-inch, 720p LCD in the lid, along with speakers.

Just open your console and you’re ready to go. We aren’t sure if the power brick fits in there too. But we do know that your controllers will not fit. Sadly.

Gioteck announces MX-1 remote for PS3

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on June 18th, 2010

Gioteck was unknown to me until this week when it pulled the wraps off the new EX-01 headset that is headed to the US. The company has now announced a new MX-1 Media Remote that will be coming to the States as well.

The new remote is designed to control the PS3 with full control for Blu-ray, DVD and the Cross Media Bar. The catch is that the remote is apparently an IR unit, which the PS3 can’t just pick up.

Move Navigation Controller can be replaced by DualShock

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 17th, 2010

Good news for those of you who don’t like the Move Navigation Controller. At $30, I don’t blame you. It can be replaced by the DualShock controller. It may be a less comfortable solution, but you already have a DualShock controller.

Plus you get to hang on to that $30. At an E3 presentation about the Move, Anton Mikhailov has confirmed that the two controllers are interchangeable. It’s nice to know we have the option. Sony did right by gamers again with this news.

Sony PS3 Surround Sound AIO Solution

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 16th, 2010

Looking to pump up the sound on your PS3? You’re in luck. Sony has just released their new surround sound system for the PlayStation 3, with 10Watts per channel @ 6Ω 1 kHz, and a power of 15Watts x 2 for the built in sub woofer.

The new Sony CECH-ZVS1 surround sound speaker system has been specifically created for the PlayStation 3 so this is the solution you’ve been looking for. It’s designed to enhance the audio quality by providing an immersive surround sound experience. It also fully supports the new PlayStation move motion controllers, together with stereoscopic 3D content as well as traditional Blu-ray movies.

PlayStation Move to get awesome shooting attachment

Posted in Sony by Shane McGlaun on June 16th, 2010

I have a few games on the Wii that you shoot with and I have never felt the need to put the controller into a gun device. It’s no surprise that the PS3 Move controller is already getting a shooting attachment though.

If the one for the Wii looked as cool as the Move accessory, I might actually use it. This shooting attachment holds the Move controller with the ball end sticking out the front. It has an enclosed trigger and looks very high quality from the pics.

Gioteck EX-01 Bluetooth headset comes to the US

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on June 16th, 2010

We have seen several new headsets for gamers get unveiled at E3 so far this year. One of the new headsets is the Gioteck EX-01 Bluetooth headset for the PS3. The wireless headset looks like a headset for a smartphone.

The device is designed for gamers and wirelessly connects to the PS3. It has a cushioned on-ear external speaker and ergonomic controls. The controls include volume and power buttons on the outside of the earpiece.

PlayStation Plus announced: $50 a year

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 15th, 2010

We knew it was coming and today at E3 PlayStation Plus has been announced. Before you get your Playstation panties in a bunch, the PlayStation Network will not change. You still have what you already have for free. But if you like you can upgrade for $50 a year or $18 for three months.

The first three months are even free. You get a whole bunch of premium content, including “hundreds of dollars of products” throughout the year, early access to betas, and Qore. It’s for the gamer who doesn’t want to miss anything.

500GB PlayStation 3 coming, with new Wi-Fi, Move

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

An “industry source” speaking with games site CVG, says that Sony will release two new PS3 bundles this year, both including the PlayStation Move motion controller, and one of them featuring a huge 500 GB hard drive. One of the bundles will include a 250GB PlayStation 3 and the Move motion controller.

The other bundle will include a 500GB PlayStation 3 and the Move. That may be overkill. Then again, maybe Sony knows something we don’t. Maybe they have plans that take up a lot of space.

FCC listings point to new PS3 models

Posted in Sony by Shane McGlaun on June 11th, 2010

The PS3 has been around for a while now and the last time it was updated we ended up with the PS3 Slim. Since the thinner and cooler running version of the console turned up, we haven’t seen anything new from Sony on the PS3.

With E3 kicking off next week it appears that there is a chance we may have some announcements from Sony on new PS3 models. A couple new PS3 model numbers have come across the FCC.

PS3 Twistdock looks stylish

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

Console docking stations are usually ugly and cheap, but this one actually looks decent. Even stylish. It even swivels. This dock will hold either the original PS3 or the PS3 Slim. It holds the console and charges two controllers at once while giving you four extra USB ports.

Sure, it takes up more space then just laying your console down, but if you love your console, why not display it as if in a museum? Maybe shine some light down on it while you’re at it. It will cost you about $100 in the UK right now.

PS3 and Xbox 360 to get price cuts this year?

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on May 11th, 2010

Word on the street is that PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 could get some price changes later this year. According to the rumor, Sony could be planning an entry-level £200 (or $295) version of the PS3 that offers a smaller hard drive with a single controller.

While the Microsoft side of the rumor says that it might include the upcoming Natal with the Xbox 360, though there is talk of a possible version of it without Project Natal going for less than £100 ($147). And IF the rumor is true, Nintendo is also looking at a price drop in order to compete with the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

PS3 OtherOS class action lawsuit filed in the US

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on April 29th, 2010

You might remember that the 3.21 firmware update for Sony’s PlayStation 3 disables the OtherOS functionality from the console. That means that you can’t install Linux on it anymore. Hackers have been busy doing their thing and righting this wrong, trying to get the feature back on the console, but Anthony Venture on the other hand has filed a class action lawsuit against the company.

The lawsuit covers all PS3 consoles purchased from November 17th 2006 to March 27th 2010. The lawsuit calls for compensatory damages, restitution, injunctive relief and legal fees to be paid by Sony, and they are talking a $5 million figure.
