Sony recently announced the DPP-F700 digital picture that offers a built-in photo printer. The device sports a 7-inch display with an 800 x 480 resolution, USB port, and a card reader.

The built-in printer can print a 4-inch x 6-inch photo in just 45-seconds. You’ll also get a handy remote control. Sony will launch the DPP-F700 here in the US in January 2010 for about. $200.

How many Digital Photo Frames do you know that have a printer? None? That’s right none. Sony is going where no brand has gone before in the world of digital photo frames with the announcement of the DPP-F700. It’s basically a 7 inch frame that has a printer attached.

It’s a WVGA display with support for up to 800 x 480 resolution. You also get a gigabyte of memory, 21 different templates for displaying the time and date and it supports a bunch of card types, SD cards, SDH cards, etc.

Epson’s new Workforce 610 all-in-one printer is aimed at small businesses and home offices and the like as it’s capable of handling a wide variety of jobs all in one convenient device. You might remember that when we reviewed last year’s model, the Workforce 600, we really liked it. So how did the 610 stack up? Read on and find out.

Canon has a new printer in their Selphy line. The Selphy ES40. The most interesting aspect of this Selphy is that it comes with a voice-guidance system, which is new territory in the world of printers. Some other features include a 3.5″ LCD display and a scroll wheel to navigate through all of the menus.

The Selphy ES40 printer will retail for $149.99 when released. The Selphy ES40 is great for creative types since it gives you more personalization options for your photos, with things like new frames and clip art under the Creative Print function.

Epson has released the 610 and the 1100 as part of its WorkForce line. Both new printers feature Wi-Fi, wired networking and PC Fax capabilities and is also recyclable, while meeting ENERGY STAR standards. The all-in-one WorkForce 610 features a 2.5-inch LCD tilt screen and an automatic document feeder that supports maximum print speeds of up to 38 pages per minute in greyscale and color. Laser-quality is 15 ppm for black content or 9.3 ppm for color.

The WorkForce 1100 will provide up to 30 ppm in greyscale and 17 ppm in color, with laser-quality speeds of 13 ppm in greyscale and 5.5 ppm in color. The 1100 is designed to work with both standard-size documents and index cards, brochures and other paper sizes.

Epson has a new printer in their Stylus Photo line. The PX650 all-in-one. This printer is aimed at digital photographers and creative types and doesn’t even require a PC to use. It sports a convenient 2.5-inch LCD screen, making it easy to edit crop etc right on the printer.

Some other features include PictBridge support, a memory card slot, copying and scanning at 1,200DPI resolution. The PX650 uses Claria Photographic Ink which Epson claims will give you prints that last 200 years. You can get started right out of the box as Epson has even included a pack of photo paper.

The way to go when it comes time to buy a printer is an all-in-one. The devices take up less space and can print, copy, scan, and often fax as well. The only real downside is that if your AIO breaks you lose multiple devices rather than one.

Lexmark has announced two new all-in-one printers that are both wireless Internet capable with 802.11n connectivity built-in. The printers also both feature a 4.3-inch touchscreen that can show RSS feeds.

Printers are fairly boring, but HP is looking to shake things up with the “world’s first web-connected printer.” The Photosmart Premium features a 4.33-inch front panel dubbed the Touchsmart Web, a touchscreen interface with several bundled, online apps to accommodate all of your paper-friendly tasks.

It even has a full-on HD Apps Studio just in case downloading new apps on your printer really takes off. The API’s being made open for the entire realm of developers, but it remains to be seen if the interest is there. It will cost you $399.

One of the big problems with printers today isn’t that they print too slowly or that they can’t print images. The big problem is the cost of the printer and ink. Often you can replace your whole printer for the price you pay for new ink cartridges alone. I once owned a printer that cost about $50 to replace the ink tanks.

Epson has announced a new line of all-in-one printers called the NX series that offers nice features at low prices. All of the printers will copy, scan, and print. The line all use Epson DURABrite inks as well. The line includes the NX115, NX215, NX415, and NX515 models.

Xerox’s new ColorQube printer promises to revolutionize color-printing using a wax ink. The ink can reduce the cost per page by as much as 62%. This new ink doesn’t sacrifice any printer functions either. Like other multi-function printers, the ColorQube can print, copy, scan and fax and be networked by several people.

So how does it work? The ink is melted and sprayed onto a spinning drum which deposits it on the page. Don’t get too excited. The machine costs $20,000. But as the technology progresses it will get cheaper over time. And even at that price huge companies could see a long term savings in cost.

There have been a few occasions when I was getting email on my iPhone that I wanted to print the document. You can synchronize the document and then print it from your computer, but directly printing a doc from the iPhone would be much easier and add some value to an Epson printer.

Epson has announced a new application for the iPhone and iPod touch that allows users to print documents, emails, and even images directly to an Epson printer from their phones. The app is called the EuroSmartz Print & Share App.

We reported on a nail printer previously, of the Barbie variety. Apparently this is the new hot thing. I wouldn’t know myself since I’m not a girl, goth or anyone else who paints their nails. But hey why not, we have printers for everything else.

There is a lot to like when it comes to all-in-one printers for the home or home office. Rather than having a printer, a fax, and a scanner you can get one device that costs you less and does all of the functions you need.

Canon has introduced a pair of new AIO printers called the Pixma MX860 and MX330. The two printers offer print, fax and scan capability. Both use the Super G3 fax system with the MX860 offering storage in memory for 250 faxes and the MX330 offers enough storage for 50 pages in memory.
