HTC EVO 3D pre-orders start today at RadioShack

Posted in HTC by Reuben Drake on May 17th, 2011

Well, it’s May 17th and that could mean only one thing. RadioShack is now taking pre-orders for HTC’s mighty EVO 3D. It won’t be advertised, so you’ll just have to ask for it specifically and you’ll also have to shell out $50 for a RadioShack Gift Card.

The launch date for the Sprint-bound smartphone remains unknown, but at least you can claim yours and get in line so to speak. So, who wants one?

Fujitsu’s Stylistic Q550 business tablet available for US pre-orders

Posted in Fujitsu by Conner Flynn on May 9th, 2011

Whether this tablet is stylistic or not is debatable, but one thing is for sure, most tablets don’t have Smart Card readers, fingerprint scanners and TPM modules, but the Fujitsu Q550 has one of each. That’s a bonus for sure.

The Oak Trail-powered Windows 7 tablet sporting it’s 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 IPS screen is now ready for US pre-orders. The base model is $729 with a 30GB solid state drive and a two-cell rechargeable battery. For $849 you get 62GB of storage and a four cell swappable Lithium-ion battery. Both have front and rear cameras, HDMI out, a bootable USB 2.0 port, a full-size SD slot and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi.

Samsung Galaxy S II hits 3 million pre-orders

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on May 8th, 2011

Samsung is celebrating tonight as they have announced that they have reached up to three million pre-orders worldwide for its dual-core Android phone by the end of April, when it went on sale in Korea. Orders were expected to only go up like this as the phone reached global scale and peaked at 120 countries.

I’d call that a success. In Samsung’s home country, it sold 120,000 of the phones in the first few days. The company had initially predicted 10 million Galaxy S IIs shipping for the entire year. These numbers will level off, but they help Samsung threaten competitors like Apple.

Samsung takes 200K Galaxy S II pre-orders, passes iPhone 4

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on May 3rd, 2011

Samsung has to be quite happy with the Galaxy S II. The company has taken over 200,000 pre-orders across all three major Korean carriers between Monday of last week and the launch on Friday. 160,000 of these were at the country’s largest carrier, SK Telecom.

It gets even more impressive. The pre-orders passed 10,000 units in the first 29 minutes and doubled that in over an hour. This surpasses iPhone 4 pre-orders last August and sets a new high for Apple to beat.

Best Buy taking in-store pre-orders for HTC Thunderbolt

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on February 6th, 2011

Everybody start singing AC/DC’s “thunderstuck” now. Best Buy stores around the nation are now accepting pre-orders for HTC’s Thunderbolt. We knew it wouldn’t be long and sure enough, the day has arrived. If you have the $50 necessary to put towards it, you better get in line.

Looks like the phone will be available for pickup on February 14th. Pick up one for that special someone and say Happy Valentines day. Are you getting one for yourself?

Verizon breaks first day sales record with iPhone 4 pre-orders in just two hours

Posted in Verizon by Conner Flynn on February 4th, 2011

Well, that was quick. It took Verizon just two hours of having the iPhone 4 available for pre-order to break its all-time record for first day sales of a single device. That’s even more impressive when you consider the fact that it only opened up pre-orders to its own subscribers, and it started at the dead of night.

This means that between 3AM and 5AM yesterday morning, more people ordered the iPhone 4 than Verizon has been able to sell on any full product launch day. We don’t have actual numbers, but it is obviously a lot.

Nintendo 3DS pre-orders begin at GameStop

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on December 26th, 2010

You can now reserve a Nintendo 3DS at any GameStop store, despite the fact that there’s no word on an official US price. How much money you will need seems to depend on the location A New York store wanted a deposit of $50, while an Arizona store said $25.

Whatever the case is in your location, your money will go directly towards your 3Ds, which is likely $300. Then you just need to wait patiently for the handheld to arrive in March.

Hanvon’s color e-reader now taking pre-orders in China

Posted in ebooks by Conner Flynn on November 11th, 2010

Remember Hanvon’s new color e-reader? It’s up for pre-order in China for the insane price of 3,500 Chinese Yuan. That’s $530. The report comes from DigiTimes. That’s pretty steep, but I guess they figure that the very first E Ink Triton-equipped device anywhere is worth a premium.

Whatever the reason you can pre-order the device if you happen to be in China and have the dough. Assuming you don’t mind paying a tablet price for an ereader.

Sprint taking pre-orders for HTC 7 Pro December 8th?

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on November 1st, 2010

The rumor is that Sprint is taking preorders for the HTC 7 Pro on December 8th. This is the company’s first Windows Phone 7 offering and it makes sense as it goes with HTC’s previous announcement of the HTC 7 Pro, saying it will be available only in the first half of next year. So a preorder at the end of the year would fit into the overall plan.

No word on pricing yet for HTC’s 7 Pro, but it shouldn’t be anything unexpected with a contract. We expect more leaks to slip out very shortly.

Nokia N8 release date is September 2010 for $550, Pre-orders have begun

Posted in Nokia by Conner Flynn on August 16th, 2010

Will Nokia’s latest Nokia N8 smartphone save the company? We shall see. Those of us living in the US will be able to place a pre-order for the N8 for $550 and it is expected to ship at the end of September 2010.

So it will likely hit the scene after the Nokia World Event ends on September 15th. The N8 is the first 12-megapixel smartphone from Nokia, offering HD video recording, HDMI output and 16GB of internal memory. It’s no iPhone. That’s for sure.

Best Buy again taking pre-orders for the Motorola DROID X

Posted in Best Buy by Conner Flynn on July 6th, 2010

Those of you who haven’t placed a pre-order for the Motorola Droid X will be happy to hear that Best Buy has confirmed that it has resumed taking pre-orders for the phone. Best Buy had previously stopped accepting orders for the Droid X, which is scheduled to arrive on July 15th, due to low supplies.

Purchasing a $50 gift card will be enough to reserve your DROID X at Best Buy where the phone is expected to cost $199 after a $100 mail-in-rebate and a 2 year contract is signed. How many of you are planning on placing pre-orders?

New iPad pre-orders will not ship until April 12

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

The date for iPad pre-orders has been shifted back to April 12th, according to Apple’s website. People who have pre-ordered before today can still expect to get their iPads on April 3rd, so no worries there.

But those pre-ordering today & after should not expect the pre-orders to arrive before April 12th. The change suggests that Apple has completely sold out of the original online amount of WiFi iPads. 3G iPad models still have a shipping date of “late April.”

It’s official: iPad launches April 3, Pre-orders March 12

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 5th, 2010

It’s official. The iPad is launching in the US on April 3. The 3G model is coming later in the month. Pre-orders start on March 12. We still don’t have an exact date for the 3G model, but we know it’s in late April. Pre-orders start a week from today.

In Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, both the Wi-Fi and 3G models are launching simultaneously in “late April.” Will there be shortages? How many native iPad apps will launch with it? Still so many questions.

Samsung Jet gets over two million pre-orders

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on June 22nd, 2009

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processorLooks like Samsung has a bit of a hit on its hands. Samsung has announced that it has sold 2M Samsung Jet handsets with pre-orders alone. For Samsung, this represents the largest handset order ever. The Jet runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, with some serious capabilities like a 800Mhz processor and a WVGA AMOLED display. Those two features are superior to the iPhone 3GS. It even has decent looks.

The Samsung Jet also sports a web browser based on Webkit (like the iPhone and the G1), a 5MP camera and more. While Windows Mobile 6.1 is not your ideal dream touch-phone OS, we can hope that it’s upgradable to WM 6.5.
