It’s official. The iPad is launching in the US on April 3. The 3G model is coming later in the month. Pre-orders start on March 12. We still don’t have an exact date for the 3G model, but we know it’s in late April. Pre-orders start a week from today.

In Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, both the Wi-Fi and 3G models are launching simultaneously in “late April.” Will there be shortages? How many native iPad apps will launch with it? Still so many questions.

Samsung Jet gets over two million pre-orders

Samsung Jet with 800 MHz processorLooks like Samsung has a bit of a hit on its hands. Samsung has announced that it has sold 2M Samsung Jet handsets with pre-orders alone. For Samsung, this represents the largest handset order ever. The Jet runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, with some serious capabilities like a 800Mhz processor and a WVGA AMOLED display. Those two features are superior to the iPhone 3GS. It even has decent looks.

The Samsung Jet also sports a web browser based on Webkit (like the iPhone and the G1), a 5MP camera and more. While Windows Mobile 6.1 is not your ideal dream touch-phone OS, we can hope that it’s upgradable to WM 6.5.

Wii Fit pre-orders sell out in a day

Wii Fit pre-orders sell out in a day
Wii Fit is set to become the fastest selling Wii game ever. It’s outdone all previous records on Play.com by selling out its entire allocation in just one day. Wii Fit will be launching in the UK on April 25 and according to Play.com they have been “overwhelmed” by demand for the new game that isn’t really a game, but rather a fitness aid.

When it debuted in Japan 4 months ago, the exergame sold more than a million copies in the first month. That’s in a nation with around five million Wiis in use, so that’s nothing to sneeze at. Play.com is expecting to get more in stock before launch. It seems that people really do want to get healthy. Well, as long as there’s a Wii involved at any rate.
