Samsung has just introduced a new line of Blu-ray players that include their first portable 3D model, the BD-C8000, which will do 3D movies when attached through an HDMI output. The 10.3-inch display is only good for movies in 2D, though. As for battery life, you’ll get up to three hours on a full charge. You also get 1GB of internal memory, and Wi-Fi for BD-Live. The BD-C8000 is shipping now for $500.

Some other new Blu-ray players include the BD-C7900, C6800, and the C5900. The C7900 is the most promising, with dual HDMI outputs and other Internet features like Blockbuster, Netflix and Pandora. The C6800 has just one HDMI output, while the C5900 is an entry-level player.

There are lots of ways to beat stress. Some work well, some not so well. This device looks like a good gadget that will help. It’s called the StressEraser Portable BioFeedback Device. Just slide your finger in and it tells you your heart rate.

That way you know when it’s time to calm down. It also tells you how to calm yourself down through rhythmic breathing by monitoring the peaks and dips of your heart rate. The screen goes all haywire when you are stressed and will get all smooth as jazz when you calm down.

Portable Atari console the size of a Gameboy

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on June 27th, 2010

We love us some good old fashioned Atari mods around here and this is maybe the neatest we’ve seen in some time. This portable Atari is small enough to pass itself off as a Gameboy.

The core system is an Atari Flashback 2, an embedded system with a few built-in games. But without the cartridge slot it wouldn’t be the mod it is, allowing the owner to play any game he wants. Not sure about the color though. An Atari mod should be wood grain.

GAEMS suitcase makes your Xbox 360 portable

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on June 20th, 2010

It isn’t very convenient to carry your Xbox 360 around for gaming on the go. However, that is about to change with the GAEMS Portable Console Gaming and Entertainment System. It carries an Xbox and a 15-inch, 720p LCD in the lid, along with speakers.

Just open your console and you’re ready to go. We aren’t sure if the power brick fits in there too. But we do know that your controllers will not fit. Sadly.

Nintendo plans to lower the price of the DSi and DSi XL in Japan on the weekend following E3, but that’s not all. They will also be releasing three new colors for the DSi XL: Yellow, Blue and Green.

I like that they didn’t try to go for any fancy names: Just Yellow, Blue and Green. They kind of look like little child toys now. Right now these are only for the Japanese market, but maybe we will see them soon here as well.

The Panel is a portable 13-inch rechargable USB monitor that can plug into almost any device with USB. Like your iPhone or Xbox 360 etc. The battery will deliver up to 5 hours per charge and the screen has a 1280×800 resolution.
