Creative has launched a new addition to it’s line of portable speakers with the TravelSound for the iPod nano. This one-piece speaker attaches to the docking port of Apple’s nano and pumps out the sound to share with others. This new TravelSound speaker appears very similar to the TravelSound i50 that we saw last fall for the iPod nano, and the design is no doubt inspired by it.

The new TravelSound portable speaker is relatively small and lets the 3rd generation nano fit right into the design giving it an overall thickness of less than an inch with 3.9 inches in total height. It also comes with a little plastic stand, and if you can keep from losing it since it’s not attached, will provide a safer rest for the speaker with your iPod in it.

We’ve seen our share of portable speakers and so far our favorite so far has to be the X-Mini Capsule speakers, mostly because they are compact and they went wireless recently. Close behind would probably be the Easter Egg Tumbler Speaker. This device, like the X-Mini, pops open to extend out the chamber a little bit and add some more bass into the pint-sized speaker (or about as much base as you can expect from something like this.) It also comes egg-shaped and heavy at one end so that it can’t be tipped over when being bumped around on your desk

Each comes as a single speaker with an audio cable for input and a USB cable that powers and charges in the internal battery. No word on exactly how much juice the speaker puts out but we’re guessing 1W, and it’s pretty hard to say on the battery life if you wanted to use this with your media player.

Targus has introduced something new for the portable speaker market called the Speaker Book. Creating a good set of portable, battery-operated speakers seems to be quite a challenge, and although we’re not sure how it sounds quite yet this one at least looks like a pretty cool solution.

The Speaker Book, like the Targus SonicPak backpack, uses the super-thin NXT Balance Radiator speaker technology and pumps out the tunes from your portable player through a standard 3.5mm jack. Also it can be powered by either three AAA batteries or from a USB connection if you want to run it from something like your notebook computer.

I have to admit that we thought these little X-mini speakers from Singapore’s XM-I were pretty nifty to begin with, but now XM-I says the speakers are going wireless. The X-mini’s are small (around 52mm wide) speakers that can fit in your pocket and be used to pump out the sound to share from your PMP.

When you want to use the speakers, they will pop open accordion-style and product sound with a special bass chamber through a high-fidelity 2.4W speaker. Now, with a limited amount of power we really can’t imagine the X-mini will really be pumping a whole lot of sound, and a wireless version would probably have even less juice but they are still a pretty neat solution.

Speakers for iPod Shuffles are harder to find, compared to speakers for iPods, Nano’s and even iPhones. Expect is here to help, with an update on the Cuby iPod Shuffle Dock. They have released some cool looking iPod shuffle speakers for the 2GB iPod Shuffle. They come in either pink or silver. Enjoy your tunes and charge all at once. It is powered via USB or batteries for a more mobile experience.

It’s made to fit the 2nd generation iPod Shuffle and is designed to be nice and compact. It’s kinda cute too. You just snap the Shuffle into the speaker dock and you’re all set. It will only cost you $27.

While we’re pretty sure we’ve seen bicycle speakers before, including ones for the iPod, cy-fi is a new product designed to dock your iPod and the first we’ve seen to provide wireless speakers mounted on your bike to “ride louder” according to the company.

The idea comes from bike riders who wear headphones to listen to music and are unable to adequately hear traffic around them. The cy-fi system lets them bring their music along in a compact package without the ambient sound restrictions by most headphones.

Nokia has some new, small portable speakers that were launched along side their XpressMusic phones to give a handy and portable way to share music on the go. Nokia says that the Mini MD-6 speakers give “great sound” in full stereo from your mobile devices when you on the move, but what we really like about it is the case design.

The MD6 comes in just under a 5-inch case in which the top hinges open to expose two small speakers, and protects them when closed. They then connect to your media player through 3.5mm AV connector (headphone jack?). The specs also mention that the speakers have a built-in FM radio antenna which must be for bringing better FM reception to your player since the speakers don’t appear to have any FM tuner controls on it.

At only 52mm at its widest point when closed the X-Mini capsule speaker from XM-I adds some serious sound to your portable player in a very compact package. The X-Mini opens up with an accordion-like middle to 54.5mm tall to expose a patented vacuum bass chamber which is designed to “mimic the resonance of a sub-woofer,” according to the company.
