This media player does it all. It will crank out music, videos and pictures, but it’ll also play your favorite old school video games. The device features a 320×240 LCD screen and has a software emulator on board that lets it play NES, Famicom, GameBoy, GameBoy Color and Sega Mega Drive games.

There’s even a text-to-speech eBook reader that can read any TXT file out loud in Chinese or English. Oh and a handy digital camera too, which must be low quality. You’ll get 4GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 8GB total using an SD memory card.

Japanese manufacturer Amadana recently rolled out the SAL pocket video recorder that records video in MPEG4 format and captures 3MP pictures with its CMOS image sensor. The device measures 54mm x 95mm x 12mm and weighs just 85 grams.

This portable gadget also offers up 2GB of internal memory. You can transfer video and picture files to your PC or laptop via USB port. No word on pricing yet. Looks like the Amadana SAL pocket video recorder will only be available in Japan.

That Lenovo netbook we showed you this morning? Sadly, not a real product.

Apparently it’s a concept that is at least two years old. Following the earlier leak, the company decided to show more formal shots. Ah, who needs a pocket Lenovo anyway, when all of their other offerings look just as polished and svelt?

If you are looking for a pocket-sized video camera, chances are you’ll want to check out the Kodak Zx1, which will be released in April 2009. This model is priced at $150. What you get is a weather-resistant video camera that offers high definition recording at 720p at 60 fps.

Other features include SD/SDHC memory card slot (up to 32GB), HDMI output, a 2 inch LCD display and remote control compatible. Available in black, red, pink, blue and yellow, the Zx1 can even capture video in low-light conditions. It’s better looking and more rugged then it’s predecessor, the Zi6.

These are great for part-time Ninjas and Superheroes who don’t have a utility belt. The Pocket Grappling Hook is $27, the Micro Pocket Grappling Hook version is $22 and both are awesome. The Pocket Grappling Hook is a pocket size Hook(1″ x 5.5″) , with spikes that unscrew and are stored in the water resistant “o”-ring sealed body.

To use the Micro Grappling Hook just retrieve it from your pocket, unscrew the base to reveal the three tiny spikes, then thread them into their holes. Then it’s just recap and swing the hook toward the target. And you larger figured heroes needn’t worry. It’s been lab tested to hold more than 350 lbs. Anyway, I have never seen anybody that huge trying to throw a grapple and climb anything.

Many of us remember when projectors were bulky things the size of a suitcase. Not anymore. Now they are phone sized. NTT Docomo is getting into the act too. They unveiled a prototype cell phone that doubles as a video projector and demonstrated it at CEATEC JAPAN 2008. The projector would give you a 20-inch image from a distance of about 80 centimeters and roughly 100 minutes of viewing time, which is enough to watch TV shows, podcasts and short films, if not 2 hour movies.

Red, green and blue LEDs are used as the light source. Pixel count is 480 × 320 (HVGA), and its luminance is 7.5lm. The power consumption is about 3W. The company plans to have a working version of the device ready for market in about three years. The way the tech in these projector phones is shaping up, I wouldn’t be surprised if it took half that time.

JVC enters the HD pocket camcorder arena with something new at CEATEC today, with the Everio HD Memory Camera. This SDHC based concept camcorder is expected to be AVCHD ready with an HDMI port. You’ll notice that most of the buttons are conveniently situated within finger distance at the top of the device. There isn’t much info otherwise, but more details will be forthcoming.

The Wiimote Controller Pocket is probably the lamest excuse for a Wii accessory we’ve ever seen. This amazing device amounts to little more then a dressed up tissue box that says Wii on it. It’s available in 3 colors and of course the idea is that it can hold your Wiimote and nunchuk. And in it’s off hours, it doubles as a pen holder. At least the product description makes no bones about the fact that it’s lame:

“Anyone can fashion a similar pouch from an empty tissue box, a wonton soup container, a paper bag, or the cardboard box that your GA-KO Alarm Clock arrived in. Sure it won’t look as nice as Hori’s rendition but the functionality is the same and the cardboard box is free.”

A 12 year old Michigan Middle School student had his PSP in his pocket during band practice, when the battery overheated, burning a hole in his pants and sending him to the hospital with leg burns. It seems that in this particular school, students are allowed to have the systems with them as long as they don’t play them during school hours. A policy which I am sure will change after such a close brush with what could have been a case of char broiled genitals.

Sony has been quiet so far regarding the incident. No word on whether the kid was using a third party battery inside the system or not. Much to the kid’s dismay, after being treated he was back in school later in the afternoon.
