Rumor is that Firefox will be coming to the PlayStation 3. According to a PlayStation Insider source who’s “very close to SONY”, the company has been talking about the possibility of porting Mozilla’s web browser on to the PS3.

Now this is just a rumor right now. A very thin rumor. A rumor about a possibility. That’s all we know. But how many PS3 owners would welcome the Firefox experience on their console? We’re guessing quite a lot.

Final Fantasy fans will want to save up their money for this one. At the Tokyo Game Show press conference today, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase unveiled the special FFXIII-themed limited edition PlayStation 3.

As you can see, the FFXIII PS3 is pink on white, with a “Lightning” theme along with FFXIII branding. Under the hood, it will be a 250GB model. If you don’t mind the pink, then consider this a Christmas present to yourself. It’ll be available on December 17 in Japan.

Well looky here. We just got news of an 250GB Xbox 360 and now this. A leaked image of a PlayStation 3 slim bundle for Uncharted 2 that also sports a 250GB hard drive.

According to Engadget, they have confirmed that it’s legit, but other than that, there’s no word on when it will be announced or any info on a price or release date. A good guess would be that we will see it hit retail in mid-October alongside Uncharted 2, but no one knows.

Forget the PS3 Slim. This is the kind of PS3 you want. The only game it plays involves you shoveling cake into your mouth as fast as you can.

The controllers are made from rice crispy treats, so forget mashing buttons, you’ll be mashing your teeth into them like a madman as you slide ever closer to a diabetic coma. And even though this confectionery console may not have a slew of worthwhile games at the moment, the ones it does have are delicious.

Sony’s E3 press event is just over one month away. The rumors are already flying. We told you about PSP’s overhaul, but now Variety is reporting that the PlayStation 3 motion sensing controller will be appearing on stage.

Word is that third-party developers have already been asked to implement the functionality into their upcoming games. You guys interested in the PS-Wii?

Right after unleashing their Dominator joystick XCM has a new Rumble Joystick for PlayStation 3. It really isn’t all that different from the original. Except that it rumbles.

It’s being hailed as the world’s first PS3 joystick that rumbles all by itself. It features four memory buttons for programming all your macros as well as independent Rapid Fire and Turbo buttons. That’s not all. There’s also the all new XO Adapter for PS3, which adds support for macros, Rapid Fire and Turbo to any plain old Dual Shock or SIXAXIS controller.

Here’s some awesome news for PS3 owners. It’s been a long long wait, and I mean long, but this device has now hit the FCC. The details are few, but you should be excited. Until now Playstation owners with IR-based universal remotes have had to use bulky IR-to-Bluetooth converters so that the pair can communicate.

That will all change when the E-R0001 hits the market. We’ll have to wait to get the answers to all of your questions, like when? and How much?

YouTube has enjoyed tremendous success, but like all superstars, things can get lonely at the top. It’s a service that’s been stuck on the computer. The internet to be exact. Sure, it gets tons of hits, lots of people enter it’s doors every day. But it gets lonely. People just watch and post their videos. No one stops to talk.

Anyway, YouTube wants to start socializing more. So it’s getting off the computer and onto your TV, through video game consoles. YouTube is coming to the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It flips Xbox 360 the bird for now. PS3 and Wii owners can just go to www.youtube.com/tv to get a specially-formatted version of the site for your TV.

Logitech, besides announcing a wireless Wii keyboard, also unveiled today a force feedback steering wheel for the PlayStation 3. It is called the Logitech Driving Force Wireless and it prices around $100.

The Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel makes use of force feedback, which “creates directionally precise, tactile feedback that accurately simulates forces experienced in the game.” This wheel is also wireless, making use of a USB receiver to connect to the PS3.

Forget the 40GB PS3 model. It’s being pushed aside and will be collecting dust in September. It will be replaced by another version thanks to Sony’s “Gentlemen, we can rebuild it” bionic console attitude. The 80GB model is back. It’s being called the Core Pack and has “the same functionality” as the 40GB model, with double the storage for the same price of $399. We think that means no backwards compatibility. This should make PS3 fans very happy.

According to the Sony Playstation blog, the company has released firmware version 2.41 for the Playstation 3 which is expected to be a smoother update than the 2.40 version they released last week and had to pull shortly after. Apparently some folks who installed the 2.40 version experienced problems getting to the XMB when booting up and were stuck with a bricked console, at least temporarily.

We had heard that Sony would get a fix for the 2.40 firmware out sometime this week and their blog entry late last night said it would be available shortly. According to a number of reports the 2.41 version is available now with much, much fewer problems.

Both the 2.40 and the 2.41 firmware updates for the Playstation 3 game console bring some new features including in-game access to the XMB and a new Trophy system …

The latest firmware 2.40 put out just Tuesday for the Sony Playstation 3 was apparently pulled shortly after its release due to multiple reported problems caused by the update. If you’ve already gotten the update and things are working fine you are one of the lucky ones, otherwise if you seem to be faced with a bricked console you’ll need to be getting in touch with Sony support or possibly trying to fix it yourself.

Sony confirmed Wednesday that they had official pulled the available update within an hour after its release due to the reported problems, which they say were experienced by a “limited” number of PS3 gamers. The most common problem appears to be that the console gets “stuck” when booting and doesn’t get past that “wave” background display, never reaching the XMB. Some argue that formatting the PS3 hard disk will fix the problem which you can attempt, but at your own risk.

If you were hoping to somehow get your hands on that gun metal gray Metal Gear Solid 4 Playstation 3 bundle, here’s your chance. Konami has issued a press release showing that they exclusively will have a 40GB MGS4 PS3 bundle available for North American with the pre-sell starting on May 19th. This is not the same as the 80GB bundle we had talked about last month but a new offering available only from Konami.

The package comes with a Gun Metal Gray, 40GB Playstation 3, a matching wireless dualshock controller, Metal Gear Online, a Blu-ray disc with 2 hours of exclusive additional content and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition game. When we heard news that Sony and Konami where launching a Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 in Japan we of course wanted one but new that this was probably one of those cool, Japan-only things that we would never actually see here in the U.S. But, as it turns out Sony is going to be launching this gun metal colored PS3 console in the United States.

Unfortunately it sounds like this release will be a very limited edition in the U.S., so we probably still won’t get our hands on one but at least now there’s a better chance. The MGS4 PS3 along with its matching DualShock 3 controller has a U.S. launch date of June 12 and will come bundled with the game and the standard 80GB PS3.
