Plantronics has announced an interesting speakerphone in the Calisto 825 speakerphone, which is optimized for use with Microsoft Office Communicator and Lync. It is designed for private and home office workers who use multiple communication devices to collaborate effectively.

The Calisto 825 has a unique wireless microphone that provides superior speakerphone audio quality as well as freedom of movement. The unit also produces unmatched audio quality and premium sound using echo and advanced noise cancellation technology. The Calisto 825 will cost you $259.95.

Plantronics new K100 in-car Bluetooth speakerphone includes dual microphones and digital signal processing (DSP) technology that keeps the user’s voice sharp and clear and also limits the surrounding noise. Also echo cancellation improves listening on both sides of the conversation, while a high-quality speaker makes every call clear.

The Plantronics K100 also has an integrated FM transmitter, so you can hear conversations, stream music, or play podcasts from your smartphone to the car stereo system. It also features large buttons so you can control the K100, while keeping safe on the road.

Way back in 2008 I mentioned the then new GameCom 777 USB virtual 5.1 surround sound headset. The headset was for gamers and had a USB amp and normal mic and headphone plugs too. Plantronics has announced a new updated version of the GameCom 777.

The new version of the headset has the same design and also has the USB amp included. The main difference is the new version has simulated 7.1-surround sound. The headset has a hide-away mic that’s out of the way when you don’t need it.

Plantronics unveiled this week a new Bluetooth headset which is dual-mic developed for isolating voice signals. It is called the Voyager 835 and it will set you back around $120.

The Voyager 835 offers up something called Dual-Mic AudioIQ, “a combination of its proprietary DSP algorithm which intelligently optimizes audio levels and fidelity on both sides of a conversation, with precisely configured dual microphones to significantly reduce background noise.” The dual microphones reportedly work with one capturing voice while the other filters out background noise.

I have said it before, and I will say it again — PC gamers need a good set of headphones. Headphones are a great way to keep the neighbors/wife/girlfriend/mom from complaining every time you fire up Call of Duty to frag some noobs. Headphones also let you hear more nuances of the sound as well.

Plantronics makes all sorts of headphones and headsets for different tasks — including PC gaming. The latest gaming headphones from Plantronics are called the GameCom 777 and are connected to the PC and powered by one USB connection. The headphones have a built-in USB sound card and utilize Dolby Pro Logic II and virtual 5.1 surround sound.

Bluetooth headsets can tend to feel fragile and sometimes snap if bent the wrong way. Plantronics hopes to do something about this with its new Plantronics Explorer 370, priced at around $80.

The Plantronics Explorer 370 is a self described “rugged” Bluetooth headset, developed by Plantronics to meet military-grade specifications. It makes use of wind filter technology for a better sound and is designed to be water, dust and shock resistant.
