Roll Film Clock is for the nostalgic shutterbug

Roll Film Clock is for the nostalgic shutterbugOkay kids. I’m going to give you a minute to go wiki “film”. Go on. I’ll wait. Okay. Done? Know what film is now? Awesome. It’s the stuff that used to capture peoples souls when you took a photo. If you exposed the film to sunlight, those souls were lost forever and drifted into the air like gossamer, leaving the actual people who were phographed drooling vegetables.

Anyhow, the Roll Film Clock looks like film, and mixes in a digital clock. It’s a digital clock dressed up as a roll of film. It wants to go out on Halloween and show off. Get candy. Score some hot chicks. Brag that it costs $62.

Open-source camera could revolutionize photography

Open-source camera could revolutionize photographyA bunch of folks at Stanford are set to “reinvent digital photography” with an open-source digital camera. The idea is that it would give programmers the power to come up with new software that would have cameras doing some new tricks, and hopefully eliminate software limits that exist right now.

They’ve already developed a prototype, with the Frankencamera. In the future owners will be able to download apps to their devices and constantly improve performance, much like with your iPhone. Pretty awesome if you ask us.

The Timelapse Garden video camera

The Timelapse Garden video cameraHere’s a cool video camera from Hammacher Schlemmer, specifically designed to create a timelapse video of your garden so that you can keep track of your garden’s progress. Pretty neat. You could make your own Discovery Channel type movie.

It features two different capture modes: as close as 20-inches or a 54-inch wide field of view with the capability to take a picture at one of six preset intervals. Anything from every 5 seconds to every 24 hours and it combines them into a single 1280 x 1024 resolution AVI movie file. Nice.

NDrive G800 GPS: Real photography Navigation
NDrive’s G800 GPS is for the UK and Ireland only, but what’s interesting about it is that it’s the first GPS system that uses real photography for navigation as far as we know. Apparently, it comes with videos, photos, e-books, music, games, FM transmitter, calculator, and a 4.3-inch screen and Bluetooth.

If you live in certain areas of Europe, you can buy maps for your country. The info on how they manage to get aerial views and use them are somewhat vague.
