phenomdreamwatchphoneGeeks the world over have become infatuated with the idea of a watch phone. I can get the outright geek appeal of the devices, but the reality of the tiny keys and screen don’t make me want to give up my iPhone for a watch phone.

AMD Phenom PC Case is part TransformerThis is one of the coolest, most awesome, most jawdropping PC case mods we’ve seen in awhile. This AMD Phenom PC Case opens up in almost all directions, and looks a lot like a Transformer. It even features a green lighting scheme. Seriously, this thing looks like it’s about to take flight and fight another robot and fill your home with explosions and flying parts.

It’s got a certain classic Cylon look about it too. Look at the picture. Now look at yours. Yeah, now that you’ve seen it, you know what is missing in your life. It was created by Bill Owen, who is a true genius among men. We are not worthy.

Phenom SpecialOps cellphone watchSure, it might seem silly to use a wrist watch phone these days to some, but I don’t care. It’s all kinds of kid imagination awesomeness on your wrist. Back in the day everyone was using them, from Dick Tracey to countless Sci-Fi dudes. And we dreamed of one day having our own.

This Phenom watch is a completely unlocked GSM phone ready for any SIM card you have. It also functions as an MP3/MP4 player through a MicroSD port. Some other features include a 1.3″ touchscreen display, Bluetooth, speakerphone, numeric keypad and a videocamera. Yep. Video. But does a touchscreen even matter when you get this small?

AMD’s triple-core Phenom chips are now shipping

Posted in Processors by Darrin Olson on March 27th, 2008

AMD’s triple core Phenom chips are now shippingAs promised back in September, AMD announced on Thursday that it has started shipping its new Phenom processors with triple cores. These processors are the first on the market that use 3 cores on a single silicon die instead of the more traditional 2 or 4 core chips.

The design of the Phenom X3 8400 (2.1GHz) and Phenom X3 8600 (2.3GHZ) chips are essential the same as AMD’s quad cores with one of the cores removed. This configuration allows for new pricing of the chips in between dual cores and quad cores, where rival Intel does not currently have a competitive product.

AMD Goes For The Triple Core

AMD Phenom triple core processor code named TolimanHot on the heals of the Barcelona Quad Core processor introduction last week, AMD today confirmed rumors and unveiled a new triple core addition to the Phenom lineup of dual-core and quad-core processors. The new triple core Phenom (code named “Toliman”) will be added in the first quarter of 2008 and will likely take its place in a new pricing tier between the dual and quad cores.

AMD says the new CPU’s will be the first ever to offer 3 cores on a single silicon die, even though the makeup of the new triple core will be essential the same as that of the quad-core, with one of the cores removed. The 3-core CPU’s will allow AMD to provide more purchasing options for consumers while still introducing multi-core technology into more computer purchases without requiring consumers to buy into the full quad-core price.
