Lenovo offers cheap ThinkCentre A63 for small businesses

Posted in Lenovo by Shane McGlaun on January 15th, 2010

Computers that are aimed at businesses are typically pretty boring. The business manager in charge of buying computers typically wants two things — machines that work and machines that are dirt cheap. Typically, that means plain machines missing features that consumers take for granted in the name of low cost.

Lenovo has unveiled a new desktop computer aimed at small businesses that forgoes the latest and greatest tech in an effort to be cheap. The machine can be had with AMD Sempron, Athlon II, or Phenom II Processors. It can be fitted with 1TB of storage and uses 1333MHz RAM.

It’s designed to let gamers control a wide range of functions on the PC, like moving around and controlling weapons, but most importantly the company claims that it will be extremely accurate down to the nearest millimeter. Two controllers are used to perform various functions in the game. Much like the Wiimote/nunchuk combo.

A luxury green HTPC. That’s what we have here. A sexy one at that, what with its sexy styling and all. It comes from Seoul-based designer, Design Hara. This HTPC requires only 33% of the energy that its desktop equivalent uses. Some other specs include a Mini-ITX motherboard with HDMI and DVI outputs, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive.

Retro-tech Platinum table: Great idea, insane price

Posted in Furniture by Conner Flynn on January 12th, 2010

The Retro-tech Platinum table is a coffee table with a 22-inch monitor and a computer inside. The idea is that you hook the table up to your TV as a media center. Which is a pretty nifty idea. Especially for parties and get-togethers.

The problem is that it costs $4,850. You could do this yourself for hardly anything. It’s the sort of product that gets us all excited to put this in our livingroom and then sh*ts all over our carpet with it’s insane price. Oh well, someone will do a better version for far cheaper.

The new speakers share a close resemblance to the previous version and look like ghosts from Pac Man. JBL calls them Sci-Fi inspired. The speakers are a 2.1 system with a pair of satellites and a woofer. The sats are 3″ x 3″ x 2-3/4″ with a 40mm driver. The subwoofer is a 3-inch unit measuring 9″ x 9″ x 9″.
