Sony Vaio P details: 1.4-pound, super widescreen NetbookLooks like Sony has gotten all official on us, even though everyone already knew that this Netbook was real. Sony’s hyped-up Vaio P Netbook weighs under 1.4 pounds, is under an inch thick, and it packs in an 8-inch screen with a 2.08:1 aspect ratio (1600×768!).

The netbook also sports Verizon WWAN 3G mobile broadband, has a keyboard that’s 10% smaller than the Vaio TT and 802.11n wi-fi. It also comes with an instant start OS that lets you access music, internet and email without fully booting Windows Vista. As you might expect, the Sony Vaio P will be available in several colors. Five to be exact. Red, green, black, white and onyx.

Mystery swivel prototype device shows up

Mystery swivel prototype device shows upWhat do we have here? A new mystery swivel device that seems to feature a very tiny touchpad between the “mouse” buttons, but why not just make the entire display touch sensitive? Looks like a cross between an UMPC and a MID. This was snapped at Computex 2008 in Taipei in June.

Aside from the exterior, we don’t have any details. Your guess is as good as mine. The “P” symbol is probably where the Windows key is supposed to be. Who will carry the device if and when it ever comes out? What would be the operating system be? Tune in next time on “Mysteries of the swiveling kind”.
