It’s summertime and so OtterBox has just announced a new addition to its Commuter Series cases for the Apple iPhone 4. The cases now come in some new colors, not just the regular black and yellow. Now you can get them in black and blue as well.

The OtterBox is made using multiple layers to keep your gadget safe and secure, has a screen protector that protects your display, a silicone jacket to absorb shock, and a polycarbonate shell. The summer style Commuter Series cases for the iPhone 4 are $34.95.

You can walk against cancer, run against cancer, crawl against cancer, or buy some pink gadgets. Personally, I can’t see that ever beating cancer, though it does put your money in some deep pockets to be mis-managed and pillaged. But if you are not as jaded as I, you might want to join the good fight and get yourself these pink OtterBox cases.

Otterbox has released a couple of new protective cases for your HTC Droid Eris phone, adding to their Commuter and Impact series of cases.

OtterBox’s Commuter series case (on the right in the above photo) for the HTC Droid Eris provides 3 layers of protection with a screen protector, silicone mid-layer and a polycarbonate shell. The Impact series, like it sounds, is a little more padded to provide protection from impacts to the device and has a couple layers including a screen protector and molded shell.

One of the issues that users of slider phones like the Palm Pre run into is finding a case that offers good protection and still lets the phone slide open for use. OtterBox offers all sorts of cases for different mobile devices and the company has announced a new case for the Pre.

The case is called the Tandem and is a two-piece case that attaches to the front and back section of the phone. The case offers protection from drops and still allows the Pre to slide open and closed. The case also has an over molding that protects the edges of the device.

Since the case from OtterBox is protecting something I own and depend on daily, we did not put it through the usual drops, dunks and vodka-proof trials that we would normally do. But, despite this we can tell you that this case blows away any other protective case we’ve had our hands on, for any mobile device.

The Otterbox is probably the most rugged iPhone case I’ve seen. Comprised of plastic and rubber, it couldn’t be easier to install. It will protect not only the body, but the screen as well. It’s water resistant NOT water proof.(Don’t go swimming with it, ye of withered braincells) I found it interesting that the Defender actually protects the headphone jack, serial jack, speakers and mic, helping keep any debris safely outside.

These layers include a clear membrane to protect the screen and keyboard against scratches and a polycarbonate shell and silicone skin to protect against bumps and shock.
