Apple had one million Lion downloads in the first day

Well, we knew that a whole bunch of people have downloaded Lion, but now Apple is making sure we know just how many downloads there have been. Turns out that the $29.99 update is pretty popular. Of course we knew that already.

Apple says that one million downloads of Lion have been registered in the first day of availability alone. That’s faster than any other OS release in the company’s history. So maybe their claims of it being the “best OS we’ve ever made” is true.

Mac App Store hits one million downloads in first day

Apple’s Mac App Store got off to a shaky start since it didn’t take long after the store was launched for people to figure out how to get some apps off without paying. But there’s some better news today. Apple has officially confirmed that over a million apps have been downloaded from the store in its first day in business.

Since the store offers over 1,000 free and paid apps, it wasn’t going to take long to hit that mark. The Mac App Store is available for Snow Leopard users through a Software Update as part of OS X 10.6.6 if you haven’t checked it out already.

Optimus One sells one million in 40 days

LG has a hit on it’s hands with the Optimus One. One million units sold isn’t big news these days for smartphone sales, but when you reach that number quickly it should tell you something. LG’s Optimus One has sold a million in just 40 days after initial launch.

And it’s still rolling out globally, so those numbers are impressive. Verizon is about to pick it up November 18th as the Vortex, so expect those numbers to grow. LG is very happy right now.

Those stats show that they’ve managed to move a million iPhone 3G S units over the weekend. That’s right, as usual, like lemmings to a proverbial cliff, tons of buyers flooded Apple’s stores for the new smartphone. It’s all looking great for Apple.
