Laptop Case Against CrimeRemember that Undercover laptop sleeve that makes your laptop look like a padded envelope? The Laptop Case Against Crime is like that only it disguises your laptop as a newspaper. Great idea. Because who wants to steal a newspaper? No one reads the printed word anymore.

The case is made of plastic fabric and features a ziplock fastener to keep it sealed and protected. It comes with a removable carry chain, which won’t help with the illusion. Of course with the advent of so many laptop disguises thieves may just start stealing everything. Just to be thorough.

Amazon ready to release a larger Kindle

Amazon silences the kindle after pressureWord on the street is that Amazon will be rolling out a larger version of its Kindle e-book reader sometime this week. A model designed to help the tanking newspaper business, with a larger screen for displaying newspapers and magazines, even textbooks.

The textbooks aspect should be interesting, as school kids have to carry all those heavy ass books in their backpack. Also this is bound to tick off the makers of those physical books who have until now profitted nicely on their overpriced tomes.

Recycled newspaper USB flash driveThe eco minded geek is always on the lookout for the next environmentally friendly gadget. The Recycle USB flash drive is all Mother Nature, fit for eco geeks and hippies who have given in to using tech and washing occasionally.

The entire exterior case is made up of recycled newspaper and has a storage capacity of 512MB – 16GB. I’m confused though. Does this mean it’s okay to just throw it in the forest when you’re done with it or will it choke small furry creatures? Either way, it’s not my concern after that. Still, I think they could have given it some style while making it Earth-friendly. I mean it looks like a paint chip off the wall.

Eco Brolly: Ultimate emergency umbrella

Eco Brolly: Ultimate emergency umbrella
Anyone who has ever been caught in a sudden harsh downpour knows that it sucks to not have an umbrella. You probably also know that newspapers can help to at least keep most of it off your head.

This green concept is from designer Shiu Yuk Yuen and uses disgarded newspapers as your umbrella canopy. Just unscrew the top piece, secure the paper and screw the lid back on. The user could use almost any material they want, limited only by their inventiveness. It’s a very clever idea. There is one big flaw in the design however. If I can’t find a newspaper or some other thing to screw in place, I’m drenched.
