The NES Coffee Table is one of the coolest mods we’ve seen recently. Get this, it’s not just decorative. You can actually use it as a controller during game play, and it also provides excellent space for storing away all of your gaming gear.

There’s only one problem that I can see. It’s a conversation piece for sure, but once your guests see it, that’s ALL they are going to talk about, asking a zillion questions, like “how much?” and “will you make me one?”.

I just found myself back in 1984, but in an alternate reality. If I can I’m gonna stay awhile, cause this redesigned NES kicks all kinds of ass. Look at those curves. The controllers look like delicious and super sexy candy bars.

You can thank Javier Segovia, a digital artist from Spain, for this magnificent bit of eye candy. This is his vision of an updated, redesigned Nintendo Entertainment System. Appropriately, he calls it reNESED. Oh yeah. Several geeks have just wet themselves and have become drooling vegetables.

We’ve seen our share of Nintendo NES clone systems, but as far as we know, this is the first mass-produced portable that can actually play those huge cartridges from the classic 8-bit gaming system. The FC Mobile portable plays original NES game carts. Take it and your huge cartridges everywhere and play.

You can play on the built-in 2.4-inch LCD screen, or on your television with the included AV cable. It takes three AA batteries, and plays audio through internal stereo speakers or using the headphone jack. Despite the obvious Famicom reference, seems like the console plays North American NES games, not Japanese Famicom games. Get one in black/silver or red/white. Sure, it looks silly playing NES games on a small portable, but what the hell.

This awesome NES casemod might be one of the smallest ever. The builder managed to squeeze a fully-functional NES console into the body of a single NES game cartridge. The Fami-Card began life as an original Super Mario Brothers cartridge. French modder Kotomi went to town and ripped out the guts, transplanting them with the innards of a NOAC (NES on a Chip) system clone.

This new small console has an NES cartridge slot, power and reset buttons, a pair of joystick ports and composite video and stereo audio outputs. It’s pretty amazing seeing a cartridge play a cartridge.

As far as I’m concerned you don’t have to work real hard to give me a good PMP as long as it has some NES emulation action and some decent slide-out controls. Put in a 3-inch LCD, TV-out and a 1.3 megapixel camera and I’m there.

In fact, Shenzhen Derisson’s portable gaming PMP is the first device of its kind to boast a built-in camera, as far as I know. The camera is not a webcam but a real photo shooter. Plus, you have the option to make it a 2 megapixel or 3 megapixel. The device will even record scheduled TV programs according to the specs. It supports NES games and ASF format MEPG-4 videos.

Now this is a very awesome Nintendo mod. Not only did they turn the original NES controller into an MP3 player, but they went that extra step and turned one of the NES carts into a speaker. This is portable audio that’s sure to get some attention.

Who cares if the sound quality is crap. That’s not why you undertake a project like this. It’s for the glory. The deep down inside geek glory that burns inside like a raging storm. Here’s to you, unknown nerd who put in the hours and gave us this vision of NES awesomeness. We salute you.

I’ve done a few retro video game mods in my time, but I’ve never been crazy enough to put an NES in a sneaker. Thank God there are others out there who will do it so I can see.

This shoe has a fully-functional original Nintendo Entertainment System built in, so you can enjoy all of your classic favorites right from your foot. It’s obviously got sole. Though, I’d feel really weird playing the NES from a shoe. How’s that for a pair of 8-bit kicks? Wait, there’s only one.

The Portable Slide Panel Digital Media Player has a design that makes it look like a game handheld. It’s a video player with a 2.8inch LCD display capable of playing back MP4 and 3GP files. It also works as a MP3/WMA player, FM tuner, has ebook function, built-in speaker, and JPEG viewing abilities.

The coolest function is it’s ability to play games, and it claims to support NES, GameBoy and GameBoy Color. Apparently via an emulator. The device also has a built in mic and a digital video camera. That’s alot of cool features. Plus it comes with audio and video out cables so you can connect it to a TV. The only downside with this device is that they only give you 1GB of internal memory, but there is the typical SD slot for expansion. It will cost you $59.99, and they even give you a pouch.

I’m not sure if Donald Trump is into video games or not, but if he is, somebody should alert him to the fact that the Holy Grail of gaming is on eBay right now at a reasonable(For him) $15,000. If he is into gaming, his toupee will do a backflip. It’s the Nintendo World Championships 1990 Gold Cartridge. It will likely go higher before it ends on Feb. 20th.

The story goes that only 26 of these gold items were made, and just 12 are believed to still exist. Apparently, the 1990 Nintendo World Championships were inspired by the 1989 movie The Wizard (Joy Stick Heroes). Get your bid in before the gaming gold rush starts. Note: This is also a must if you are a James Bond villain who named Goldfinger. But you would have to outbid Trump, which would make him your new arch enemy.
