Looks like the Super Famicon controller for the Wii was just the first such retro controller. Codejunkies is offering this NES-type classic gamepad that has the SNES’s four buttons for $20.

What’s next? We predict a new version of the Nintendo Power Glove, maybe a Mini ROB the robot that can hold your Wiimote. Once they redo all the old Nintendo peripherals, how about an Atari joystick for the Wii?

Someone has taken an old NES controller and modded it into The Compwnent USB Nintendo Controller mouse by adding a new chip and USB cable. It will work with any OS. We’re not sure how comfortable it would be to use, but it’s not like it will injure your wrist over time. Why not?

It will show up as “Compwnent USB NES Controller” on your device list and boasts a Mouse Mode. Hit A, B, Start & Select simultaneously and you can use the D-pad and A/B buttons to control mouse movement and left/right click! The NES Controller will cost you $35.

The Famicom Box is a rare piece of Nintendo history. It’s an old school Nintendo system with 15 games built in. Sort of like Nintendo’s Greatest Hits. The games include Duck Hunt, Mega Man and Super Mario Brothers. It comes with two controllers and a light gun. Believe it or not it was designed for hotels and arcades.

It’s a rare nerd artifact, highly sought after and it’s available now on Yahoo Auctions at a starting price of $110. How high it will go is anyone’s guess. So, if you want an expensive NES alternative, the Famicombox may be for you. Your friends will be envious should you win.

This Jekyll and Hyde system is called the Hyperkin SG/FC. It can play both Nintendo NES and the SEGA Genesis console games. It’s basically just a console with both game slots built in. It connects to your TV via an RCA composite video output, and offers stereo audio output. The bundle includes a pair of joypads in the box, so you will be able to start playing all your favorite old school games right away. An eBay search should find you the system for $35 to $45 bucks.

Etsy seller NES Box didn’t like the fugly exterior of their external hard drive, and so did something about it. That something was to drop it in an old NES cartridge case. The cartridge was just the right size, allowing the drive to fit in perfectly.

It’s powered by USB, so you won’t need any external juice. Created by them, it’s a one of a kind item.(Until someone else makes one) So it will cost you $180 if you want one. The only problem with putting things in old NES cases is that it might get lost among your other cartridges if you aren’t careful. Or your friend might borrow it instead of an actual game.

I don’t think you’ll find this controller at your local Gamestop. Aside from being several years out of date, it’s also a bong/pipe. Which makes sense. I mean, what magical land has mushrooms that can make you bigger and spit fireballs, ride a green dinosaur named Yoshi and warp travel through pipes, all while collecting coins so that you can presumably earn enough to fill up your homemade modded bong again?

Now, I question whether the game ever existed in the first place. It may have all been illusion. Some guy spent an entire weekend putting this together and claims it doesn’t work.

If you’re looking for a project that requires very little work, and simultaneously want something to pack your lunch in, you might want to check out this mod, which barely qualifies as a mod at all. Just open up the console and get rid of the guts and attach some hinges.

Is that Metroid in your cartridge slot or are you just happy to see me? For once it’s not a scaled down NES that fits into a thimble. The NES belt buckle is all about combining geek style with the theory that bigger is better.

It will definitely get you noticed, while protecting your crotch from Ninjas at the same time. Actually, I don’t think it’s a belt buckle at all after watching the below video. I think this guy put a hole in back and stuck his lightgun in if you know what I mean.

What’s a guy to do for a hobby when he has a love for both NES and Lego? Combine them of course. More specifically recreate all kinds of classic NES awesomeness using Legos. Scenes from such games as Metal Gear, Duck Hunt, Excitebike, Bionic Commando, Contra, Mortal Combat, Castlevania and more.

These aren’t just slapped together scenes either, but highly detailed snapshots of the game. It’s like a walk down memory lane using Lego vision. It must have taken him hours to do all the work. And a lot of game pausing.

Much like the guy who stuffed an NES inside of an NES controller, this modder managed to stuff a Nintendo NES 8-bit game system into a light gun controller. Instead of hacking up an actual NES system he used the NOAC(Nintendo on a chip) system.

The down side is that there’s no cartridge slot, so you have to play the games built into the NOAC board. Luckily the chip came from the Super Joy III which has 76 games. The setup is powered by 3 AAA batteries that fit snugly into the handle.

We’ve seen an NES shoved into an NES cartridge before here, but this modder known as “darkeru” has gone so far as to shove the screen in too. I admit, this one feels a little…weird and not quite right. It assaults the senses somehow. But it’s still cool. He must have used the old NES on a chip trick to get it all in there. I’m not sure where start and select are located. Hmmm. Without those functions I don’t think it’s an official mod. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go try to stick my entire DS into my DS cartridge.

What better way to proclaim your love of 8-bit gaming then with these NES business card holders. I’m not sure how serious you’ll be taken when you whip it out and hand out your card, but at least a little bit of Nintendo is with you at all times.
