In some environments it is imperative that the color you see on screen is the color you get when a finished design in printed. Graphic artists for instance can’t have a deep red coming out looking like pink when a brochure is printed. Photographers also need to be sure that the color they see on the screen is what the printed pictures look like.

NEC has announced a new display made especially for this type of environment. The P221W has an optional NEC SpectraView calibration kit that is available. The LCD covers 96% of the AdobeRGB color gamut and has internal programmable 10-bit lookup tables. I’m not sure what a lookup table is, but it sounds cool.

Hey. You. 14 year old girls. Pay attention. Your lord and master Hello Kitty has a new offering for you and she demands more of your parent’s money. It’s only available in Japan, so throw a big fit and get them to import it. Courrèges, a French fashion designer, has teamed up with NEC to create the NEC LaVie G Hello Kitty Courrèges, the latest cute girl notebook.

It sports a 1.90GHz AMD Athlon QL-60 processor, 2GB memory, 160GB hard drive and a 13.3-inch WXGA screen, so it’s a decent performer despite being ungodly pink. This notebook will be available October 25 for $1,100 and comes with Vista. And if you order by October 28th, you’ll get a free Hello Kitty mouse and mouse pad.

The sweet spot for LCDs for gaming and general computer use right now is the 19-inch segment. Larger 24-inch LCDs are becoming more affordable and desirable, especially among gamers and multimedia types looking for more screen real estate.

NEC has announced a pair of premium LCDs that fit nicely into both these segments. The 24-inch MultiSync EA241WM and the 19-inch EA191M share many of the same features including a 4-way adjustable stand, cabinet design, four integrated USB ports, down-firing speakers, Dynamic Video Mode, and DVI with HDCP.

NEC today debuted some new mobile projectors which provide what NEC says is easy setup and bright images. These new projectors are the NP41 and NP61, priced at around $1,000 and $1,400, respectively.

The  NP41 and NP61 offer up 2,300 and 3,000 lumens, respectively. Operation sound is said to be quiet at around 32dB in a select mode. Both are designed to fire up quickly, automatically detecting the source and projecting the image with auto input selection. Automatic vertical keystone correction is also included.

NEC kicked off a new enterprise focused LCD series today with the unveiling of the NEC MultiSync EA261WM. This first display of the MultiSync Enterprise Advanced (EA) Series prices at around $670.

The NEC MultiSync EA261WM is a 26-inch widescreen display with 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. It is HDMI capable via an adapter and supports 720p and 1080p from DVI-D.

There are lots of uses for projectors from home entertainment to business and class room use. Different projectors have different uses and prices can go from the low $600 range up to tens of thousands of dollars.

NEC has announced a pair of reasonably price projectors aimed at the business and education installation markets. The projectors are the NP905 and NP901W with 3000 lumens and 2000 lumens respectively of brightness. Both projectors also use Windows Network Projector functionality from Windows Vista.

Rugged computers seem to be growing in popularity. People want them on their construction sites,explorers want them for their Indiana Jones thing and others just need a PC that is safe from abuse. That’s why NEC rolled out a new tablet PC for its rugged line of computers, which are built Tonka tough. The new NEC ShieldPRO FC-N22A tablet , which is made for the Japanese market is now available.

The rugged ShieldPro tablet features a low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06GHz). The 12.1-inch tablet offers a bright widescreen LED display (750 cd/m2) and boasts a battery life that can last up to 12 hours. The ShieldPro is specially designed to stand up to the worst conditions, offering protection against dust and water, and can even be operated under heavy rainfall. Besides, its outer case is super durable, it can stand up to a drop of 90 cm on a concrete floor, without breaking it.

NEC is out today with some new mobile projectors it says are value-oriented. These are the NP100 and NP200, priced at around $650 and $500 respectively.

Both of these new projectors, part of NEC’s NP Value series, use Texas Instruments DLP technology with BrillantColor for a 1300:1 contrast ratio. Model specific features on the NP100 include SVGA resolution and a brightness of 2,000 lumens, while the NP200 has 2,100 lumens and a XGA resolution.

NEC said today it is bringing to market a new network ready digital projector targeted at classrooms and boardrooms. It is called the VT800 and pricing is set at around $1,000.

The NEC VT800 offers up many features found useful in projectors, including an input/output panel with A/V switching, closed captioning and remote diagnostics for controlling this projector over a network. Technical aspects include 2,700 lumens, XGA native resolution of 1024 x 768 and up to 3,000 hours of lamp life.

Nothing quite says my boardroom is state of the art like a snazzy flat panel display mounted on the wall. NEC is one of the latest to showcase a display for this capacity, announcing today the NEC MultiSync LCD5220. It is priced at around $8,150.

The NEC MultiSync LCD5220 is a 52-inch display NEC says is the first of its type “based on a professional-grade panel.” It’s got a very thin bezel and can be used standalone or as part of multiple-display, video-wall implementations. It supports 1080p and comes with a color calibration kit for self-described “color uniformity and fidelity.”

NEC is out today with some new widescreen desktop displays targeted at business owners. These new AccuSync displays are the 19-inch ASLCD194WXM and the 22-inch ASLCD224WXM as well as the 17-inch ASLCD174WXM. Pricing is set at around $230, $330 and $210 respectively.

These new AccuSync displays are designed to refresh this particular NEC product family. They offer native resolutions of 1440 x 900 for the ASLCD174WXM and ASLCD194WXM, and 1680 x 1050 for the ASLCD224WXM; thin bezels; dual-input technology; built-in speakers and contrast ratios of 800:1 for the ASLCD174WXM, 1000:1 for the ASLCD194WXM and 900:1 for ASLCD224WXM.

NEC rolled out five new LCD monitors today in the new AccuSync 3 lineup of desktop displays, replacing the monitors in the AccuSync 2 series. The new line of LCDs boast brighter displays than their predecessors along with improved contrast while giving a no-frills display for a reasonable price.

NEC launched three new 17-inch displays – the ASLCD73VX, ASLCD73VX-BK, and the multimedia ASLCD73VXM-BK, and two 19-inchers with the ASLCD93VX-BK and the multimedia ASLCD93VXM-BK. The two multimedia models differ by housing built-in speakers.

This is the most convenient way to see how much “juice” remains in a device. Juice being battery life and in this case battery life being displayed with liquid. We don’t have many details, but this flask phone from NEC looks like it is liquid-powered and touch-screened. This one is so far out there that it must be a prototype.

According to NEC, it’s going to be released sometime in 2008, if you can believe that. It doesn’t get much cooler then being able to watch the liquid inside drain as you’re using the phone, so you can see how much power you have left. (Okay, that’s a lame hobby. But the concept is awesome.) Hopefully it will be available here in the U.S. The colors are obviously very woman friendly.
