Most of us have GPS on our phones, but if you still need a navigation device by itself, you may want to check out the Magellan RoadMate 9055-LM GPS navigation system, designed for Minivans, SUVs, RVs and trucks. It features a large 7-inch high-definition WVGA screen that displays maps, directions, and traffic to guide you on your way.

Other features include Bluetooth to pair up with mobile devices and built-in AAA TourBook guides for US and Canada, which will give you ratings and descriptions on AAA-approved places to stay, dine, and more. The RoadMate 9055-LM is $299.99.

Becker Traffic Assist Z215 GPS navigation system for Europe

If you haven’t yet picked up a dedicated GPS navigation system and live in Europe, then you might want to check out the Becker Traffic Assist Z215 GPS navigation system. It’s listed on Amazon for €267, although only on the German site with no confirmation on whether the Z215 will make its way to the US.

If it ever does, you can take advantage of its eco route software for the most fuel efficient route, letting you enter commands using speech. Aside from that, there’s also free lifetime traffic information, Navteq’s traffic patterns solution, a 3D navigation display with lane guidance and even buildings.

TomTom Go Live 1000 GPS navigation system

TomTom has introduced their latest GPS navigation, the Go Live 1000, which uses a capacitive touchscreen. The interface was given a makeover to make it easier when using it, and you’ll also get a web browser engine capable of running both Chrome and Safari.

Those in Europe can benefit from a 1-year cellular-driven access plan from Vodafone, with live traffic, local searching and speed camera detection. IQ Routes will let you know where to take a detour. The device is powered by a 500MHz ARM11 chip and 128MB RAM.

The GPS navigator features a 7-inch LCD display at 800 x 480 resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio and can track up to 64 satellites simultaneously while receiving traffic updates via its TPEG receiver.The 4GB and 8GB models retail for $285 and $310.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. A GPS device without a screen from French company Kapsys. It seems at first like a horrible idea, but speech can be just as powerful. It’s a one-of-a-kind mini portable GPS device with a voice recognition interface.

It’s designed mainly for pedestrians who need directions, and also includes a text-to-speech feature. It might also help you keep your eyes on the road. TeleAtlas will offer the map information, while Kapsys provides still more city-related information on their website. Features a SiRF Star III GPS receiver, Bluetooth, MP3 player, FM Radio and hands-free capability. As far as storage it has 4GB of internal memory. Expect it around mid-September for 150 Euros.
