Here’s a cool video camera from Hammacher Schlemmer, specifically designed to create a timelapse video of your garden so that you can keep track of your garden’s progress. Pretty neat. You could make your own Discovery Channel type movie.

It features two different capture modes: as close as 20-inches or a 54-inch wide field of view with the capability to take a picture at one of six preset intervals. Anything from every 5 seconds to every 24 hours and it combines them into a single 1280 x 1024 resolution AVI movie file. Nice.

Nature is always the best model, whether you’re building robots or…other human made monstrosities. And with that in mind, Nissan has applied the idea to the Biomimetric Car Robot or BR23C. The robot car is modeled after Bee behavior in order to prevent car collisions and thereby eliminate accident casualties.

The BR23C adopts a bee’s eye view of the world. The insects rely on a 300-degree field of vision to identify obstacles and avoid them. Likewise the robot, using a Laser Range Finder (LRF) uses a 180-degree radius vision to detect obstacles two meters away. The image is transmitted to a microprocessor, which directs the robot to change direction or speed up in order to avoid a collision. In other words, avoiding collisions is all instinct.

Looking at the pic above, I’m not going to speculate as to why an aging Moby is so intent on watching a bunch of sheep that he has to strap a portable stove onto a tree. I’m also not going to speculate what Moby will do after he finishes cooking, but he has sort of a lustful look in his eye. Probably composing the Deliverance theme in techno.

I will tell you that the Field cooker is just that, a portable stove/cooker, complete with chopping board, that straps onto trees so you can heat and eat outdoors. It was designed by Stefano Santilli to encourage more outdoorsy eating. Which is fine and all, but damn, it looks like Moby even brought eggs. He’s obviously prepared to wait.
