T-Mobile prices myTouch 3G Fender edition and gives launch date |
We first heard about the Fender edition of the myTouch 3G smartphone back in October 2009. When the device first tipped up all we really had was a pic and a few specs about the phone. T-Mobile has now gone official with the launch date and price for the handset.
The phone will hit on January 20. It will come with music apps pre-installed along with several tracks from Eric Clapton. The free Clapton songs will include “Layla,” “My Father’s Eyes,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart,” and “Wonderful Tonight.”

We’ve seen plenty of knock-off cell phones, whether they be iPhone ripoffs to Nokia clones Blackberry doppelgangers. Let’s face it, they are fun to spot and in many cases easy to laugh at. Take this T-mobile MyTough 3G (HTC Magic) “inspired” phone, for instance.
Check this out. T-mobile has re-imagined the myTouch 3G. They’ve added something that was sorely needed: a 3.5mm headphone jack for a new version of the phone later this year. The other news is that the new myTouch is being released as a special edition thanks to a partnership with Fender.
T-Mobile has made the new myTouch 3G available for pre-order for those who don’t mind the lack of a physical QWERTY keyboard. It’s a solid choice for Tmo customers looking to get some Android. If you’ve been waiting, you’ll be able to place your pre-order from $199.99 with guaranteed delivery by August 5th.
