DIY Grenade MP3 player is the bomb

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on January 20th, 2009

DIY Grenade MP3 player is the bombObviously you shouldn’t try this at home. It’s not a real smart idea to start modding live grenades. This one was an inert hand grenade, therefore the creator still walks among us. Ingredients? 1 inert grenade, a 1GB Sansa MP3 player and a hacksaw. That’s all you need.

If this sort of lethal DIY project interests you, you can try your hand at making one. Just don’t lose your hand…er…arm. Torso. It looks like a fairly simple build and a basic description can be found in the link below if you want to have a look. This is one of those Field of Dreams deals. You know, “If you build it, they will come”. They, being the FBI, local police, Homeland Security etc.

Radio Flyer Cloud 9 Wagon with MP3 player and bucket seats

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on December 28th, 2008

Radio Flyer Cloud 9 Wagon with MP3 player and bucket seatsThis is not your grand dads Radio Flyer. Or your dad’s, or even the kind you tooled around in as a kid. This one is like a luxury cruise for lazy kids being pulled around by tired parents. The only added features that my own childhood Radio Flyer wagon had were wobbly wheels and rust. This concept however, called the Cloud 9, has an MP3 player and some other cool features.

You get a nice speaker system to go with that MP3 player, so you’ll probably be seeing little kids rocking out in no time. The kids can also strap themselves into one of the two bucket seats with a five-point racing harness. Not cool enough? How about a digital display panel with temperature readouts, odometer and speedometer? The Cloud 9 has cupholders too. For juice boxes and sippy cups.

Living Solutions Colossal MP3 Player is hugeThis MP3 player is Living Solutions Colossal MP3 Player and it’s just gotten an upgrade. It’s even bigger. Now at 1GB. It’s exclusively at Walgreens. It comes in several different colors like green and blue, has a tiny monochrome display, and huge controls fit for your grandmother. It also sports built in speakers. Another upgrade to this huge device is that the controls are clearer now.

So if you’re looking for a great gag gift, head to your local Walgreens and pick one up for $19.99. It may not even fit in a Christmas stocking. This would be a really funny gift to give to the kid that wants a nice tiny iPod. He’ll be like wtf?

Posted in Media Players by Darrin Olson on November 12th, 2008

8GB Sandisk Sansa Clip MP3 playerSanDisk is releasing the latest upgrade the Sansa Clip MP3 player this week, doubling its capacity to 8GB. Aside from the storage change the features are staying pretty much the same, but this is an MP3 player you would definitely want to take a look at.

The Sansa Clip is small, weighing just 0.9 ounces and has a clip to hook onto clothing or whatever similar to the tiny iPod Shuffle. Even though it’s slightly larger (by less than a half an ounce), it really does has some advantages over the shuffle for not much more money. For starts the Clip of course now has an 8GB capacity and is retailing for just under $100 compared to $70 for the 2GB shuffle which is 4 times the storage for $30 more.

Audeo Earphones promise unrivaled comfort

Audeo HeadphonesEvery time I look up it seems like someone else is introducing a new set of earphones. I guess considering that the quality on most MP3 player or music phone earphones are seriously lacking it’s no real surprise at the wealth of aftermarket options.

The latest aftermarket offering is from a company based in Switzerland called Stafa. The earphones are the Audeo earphones and they claim to be some of the most comfortable earphones on the market. The manufacturer promises that the earphones can be worn for hours without getting uncomfortable.

SAFA Xing MP3 Player is button happy, looks like PEZ

Posted in MP3 by Conner Flynn on October 9th, 2008

SAFA Xing MP3 Player goes button happyWe recently told you about the SAFA Bandi. Here’s the SAFA Xing MP3 player that looks like pastel colored candy. Oversized PEZ to be precise. The other thing you’ll notice right off are five large tactile buttons on the surface. Inside you can store 1GB worth of songs. The built-in battery will last you 5 hours before you need a recharge.

It measures just 50mm × 22mm × 13mm and weighs only 12.2 grams, so it’s small enough to be stashed away anywhere. But I have to ask. Why no separate PEZ dispenser with a variety of heads? I’m thinking I want to insert the PEZ module into the dispenser and have a head mimic the singing of my music. Come on, that would be gold. No word on pricing yet. Back to the PEZ thing. Somebody make that happen.

iRiver Mickey MP3 player, now with hypnotizing eyesRiver has updated their already bizarre Mickey Mouse MP3 players with something new. This version has hypnotizing eyes and may need a good exorcism. Glowing LED demon eyes no doubt make it easier to take over the world. It also has 2GB of storage for your soul, even MP3 or WMA files. If your kid’s head turns all the way around and he/she can’t stop watching Disney movies, don’t complain to us.

Star Wars MP3 player: May The Force Rock You
So you’re chillin’ with your Clone Trooper laptop, wearing your flannel like George Lucas and waiting in line for that new Ewok action figure that has a big release today. But what you need is some tunes.

This is what you want right here. A Star Wars mp3 player. The front features a close-up of Darth Vader with glowing red eyes, which is cool, but sadly, this MP3 player only features 512MB of memory and a display that looks like it’s 30 years old. It does come with a built-in radio however. It’s currently out of stock at Amazon.co.uk, but ForbiddenPlanet will release a similar product shown above for about $80 US at the end of the month.

Zarva Zippo MP320 MP3 player

Zarva Zippo MP320 MP3 player
Everyone knows and recognizes the Zippo. Rugged lighters that guarantee to give you a light even in the harshest conditions. So why not use the same material as a Zippo lighter to create an MP3 player? Combine the Zippo’s tough exterior and design with an MP3 player and you have the Zarva Zippo MP320 MP3 player.

Unlike the lighter it has a tiny display used for user interface navigation. It supports audio formats only (MP3 and WMA), so no video playback. Some other features include USB 2.0 connectivity, seven EQ modes, and an integrated microphone. The 1GB model will cost you just $27.

iRiver E100 MP3 player is thin, kind of sexy
This isn’t your typical run of the mill MP3 player. It’s got stereo speakers, FM radio, a microSD card slot, line-in, and a new D-Click system. Then there’s the large 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen. Did I mention, it weighs just two ounces? This sweet MP3 Player is available in two capacities, a 4GB version and 8GB, both with flash memory. Some color choices are Solid Black, White, Sky Blue, and Pink.

You get a bunch of audio and video formats, Rhapsody, Napster, and Yahoo subscription services, voice recording, text viewer, photo viewer, and more. The battery will give you 5 hours of video playback or 17 hours of music. You wouldn’t expect it to be reasonably priced, but it is, at just $109.99 for the 4GB model or $159.99 for the 8GB version. Nice! You are getting a lot for your money.

Floral Titi MP3 player has unfortunate name

Floral Titi MP3 player has unfortunate name
Floral Titis are going to be a hit. I predict that everyone will come to love titis and they will name towns after them, like Titi-ville and Lake Titi-caca. Titis are best in pairs, so buy two. This clip-type MP3 player is in fact, a titi. So the woman above is showing you her titi.

Ok, it’s clear that I never grew up. It will come in nine different colors offered by GDIS for the Floral Titi – strawberry, mocha, carrot, aqua, sweet pink, vanilla, lavender, mint and ice blue. Each unit features 8 hours of playback time and weighs 10 grams. Available in 1GB and 2GB capacities, they retail for approximately $40 and $55, respectively.

NES MP3 player and speaker mod

NES MP3 player and speaker mod
Now this is a very awesome Nintendo mod. Not only did they turn the original NES controller into an MP3 player, but they went that extra step and turned one of the NES carts into a speaker. This is portable audio that’s sure to get some attention.

Who cares if the sound quality is crap. That’s not why you undertake a project like this. It’s for the glory. The deep down inside geek glory that burns inside like a raging storm. Here’s to you, unknown nerd who put in the hours and gave us this vision of NES awesomeness. We salute you.

Garfield MP3 player is cheap, lazy

Garfield MP3 player is cheap
While Garfield may be lazy, those who market his likeness are not. That’s because many people seem to have a special place in their heart for the cartoon cat. He’s alot like you and me. He loves to sleep, eat, watch tv and make sly comments, then repeat the whole process.

For $7.99 what’s not to love? Surplus Computers has a 256MB Garfield Mp3 Player that is expandable with a SD card slot and also features built-in mic recording. You’ll also notice the matching orange earbuds. For $13.99 they’ll even throw in the extra 1GB card. No matter what, this MP3 player has to be better then the Garfield movie right?
