Motorola NYXboard QWERTY remote

Look out TiVo Slide. Pretty soon you won’t be the only QWERTY-enabled living room remote control. That’s because Motorola has just announced its NYXboard remote, which features a compact QWERTY keyboard on the rear side and a standard cable box remote on the front side.

It looks pretty cool. The remote should be available by year’s end, though it will most likely be up to cable companies to decide if they want customers to have access to this QWERTY remote.

Motorola Droid 2 ad makes fun of the iPhone’s lack of flash

Motorola is pretty happy about their Droid line. There’s the great sales to be proud of along with the fact that the Droid 2 supports Flash. So the company hasn’t hesitated to get it’s digs in on Apple. Here is the latest.

The company has posted a full-page newspaper ad that parodies Apple’s “there’s an app for that” campaign, with the tagline “there’s a phone for that”. The question is, is Flash support an important factor to buyers?

New pics of the Droid 2: R2-D2 edition

You can expect to see this phone hanging out of your favorite geek’s pocket very soon. It’s the Astromech flavored Droid 2 we’ve all been waiting for. Some pics of the finished phone have shown up and sure enough it still looks like a flattened R2 unit.

This limited-edition Motorola Droid 2 is as close as you are going to get to a pocket R2-D2. This has to be the coolest looking phone ever.

Motorola unveils rugged Motorola Defy

Motorola has just outed another rugged Android-powered phone in the form of the Motorola Defy. How rugged is it? Well, it sports 3.7-inches of Gorilla Glass for one thing.

There’s also its IP67 compliance, which means it is good in up to a meter of water for up to half an hour. That’s pretty tough. The Defy will launch across Europe in Q4. Some other specs include an 800MHz processor, Android 2.1, Swype keyboard and a 5-megapixel camera with flash.

Motorola Droid clone runs Windows Mobile

This Motorola Droid clone looks like a toy. And you won’t find the Android operating system here. Instead, it runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Some specs include a 533MHz Huawei Hass K3 processor, and a full sliding keyboard.

Like many cloned smartphones, this one will does dual SIMs. You also get a 3-megapixel camera, a 3.5″ touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, GPS, Wi-Fi and integrated FM radio.

Motorola’s Android tablet a direct Google project?

Some reports from Digitimes would seem to indicate that Motorola’s upcoming 10-inch Android-powered tablet could be one of Google’s flagship devices. It’s been speculated that Google might consider the device a true representative of what Android 3.0 is capable of.

The device should be powerful if it’s using NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 250 chip, but will the display compete with the iPad? It will be using a display from Sharp that isn’t as bright as the one Apple uses from LG. Looks like Verizon is still seen as the main carrier.

Motorola’s Android tablet may be called Stingray

The upcoming Android-powered Motorola tablet may just be called the Stingray, according to a leaked document that also shows the MOTOMZ600 model number. Stingray may be just a codename that will be dropped for the production version though.

The only other information we have is that the tablet is closer to launch than we thought. The MZ600 is expected to have a 10-inch display and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. It may ship with Android 3.0 optimized for tablets, and will have an unknown tie-in with Verizon’s FiOS TV.

Motorola Droid Pro, Droid 2 World Edition and Android Tablet headed to Verizon?

The folks over at Boy Genius Report have received some inside information about some new Android smartphones and tablets that are headed to Verizon Wireless. Looks like there will be a Motorola Droid Pro with a 4 inch display, a 1.3GHz processor, and global roaming, that should be set to launch in November 2010.

There will also be a business edition of the Motorola Droid 2, with a world edition global roaming feature, plus it looks like there may also be an Android based tablet, or maybe a slab style touchscreen smartphone.

Motorola Droid 2 gets official

Finally, at long last Verizon has confirmed that the Droid 2 is real. Even though we knew that already. The details were spotted at Best Buy yesterday. The Droid 2 will ship with Android 2.2, mobile hotspot, Flash Player 10.1 and a revised QWERTY keyboard.

It also has Swype pre-installed. Some other features include a 3.7-inch multitouch display, 5 megapixel camera, DLNA streaming, 8GB of onboard memory and a 8GB microSD card. It goes up for pre-sale tomorrow at $199.99 on a 2-year contract, with in-store availability on Thursday.

Original Droid smartphone killed as Droid 2 nears

We have been hearing for a while now that the Droid 2 is inbound. The original Droid has been on the market for about nine months and if you wanted one of the original devices, you have waited too long.

Verizon has the listed the official out of stock notice for the original Droid. The device has gone the way of the Dodo with the follow-up expected on August 12.

Best Buy confirms Droid 2 at $199 with 2-year activation, $599 without

There have been a ton of leaks up to this point, so it’s hard to believe that Verizon or Motorola have not yet acknowledged it’s existence. However Greg from North Carolina says that his local Best Buy has some of those leaked dummy units on shelves, along with some price tags.

Looks like the phone will launch at $199 with carrier subsidy and $599 without a plan. There’s still no solid confirmation of that August 12 release date, but we all know the score anyway.

Motorola Sage spotted in the wild

Look at what we have here. The Motorola Sage MB508. It’ not official yet, but at least we have this blurry shot of the Sage MB508 from Ubergizmo. Looks like a simple QWERTY device that hopes to cater to both casual users and heavy texters alike.

The Motorola Sage MB508 will come with an integrated calendar and integrated inbox for email/messages/Social Network updates. Other features include a 3.1″ touchscreen display, the Android 2.1 operating system, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, A-GPS support and a digital compass.

Motorola-Verizon tablet to have FiOS TV, 10 inch screen?

According to the Financial Times, Verizon and Motorola are teaming up on an Android tablet. One that will have dual cameras, Adobe Flash support and a ten-inch screen, plus mobile hotspot functionality. If that isn’t enough, how about access to pay TV?

Motorola does make a Verizon FiOS set-top box, so why not? And sources are telling the Times that the television tablet may be the same technology. We don’t have any info on processing power or price yet, but rumors say that we could see it as early as fall of this year. If that’s true, it won’t be a long wait.

Motorola’s new Droid X ad makes fun of iPhone 4

You have to live under a rock to not know about the issues that iPhone 4 users are having with the antenna on the new smartphone. Apple has admitted there is an issue and has offered up free cases for users to fix the issue.

Apple is even refunding users that bought the bumper case with their smartphone. Motorola is taking the chance to make fun of the iPhone 4 and its need for a case in its new ad for the Droid X.

10 inch Motorola Android Gingerbread tablet slated for November

Motorola and Android are hooking up more often lately. And why not? The two seem like a match made in heaven. The latest news is that the company is planning an Android powered tablet. Rumor is that this device will feature a 10-inch touchscreen display and feature Google’s latest edition to the Android OS,Gingerbread.

Seems too fast, but it’s aparently expected sometime in November of this year. We can’t wait for all of these Android tablets.
