Castrade Game Box Converter upscales consoles to any monitor

Castrade Game Box Converter upscales consoles to any monitorConnecting your console to your LCD monitor can be a pain with expensive adapters and such, but Castrade’s Game Box makes the process easy. The device accepts video input from your Wii, PS3, or pretty much anything else that uses a common video cable, and properly scales it to an LCD-friendly resolution.

It prevents your console from reverting to a low-quality video mode just because your monitor doesn’t support the specific 1080i or 720p video setting it expects. It also accepts audio inputs from a few proprietary console connectors and sends them out through a 3.5mm jack.

Eizo's FlexScan monitors activate when you are nearIt’s a good idea. Not just because it’s cool, but also because it’s green. We’re talking monitors that activate or deactivate based on the mere presence of humans. It’s almost alive. Or may seem that way. It’s how Eizo’s 20-inch FlexScan EV2023W-H and 23-inch EV2303W-T roll. They’ll save you energy and money. And maybe help you shed some of that some of that green guilt.

The built-in motion sensor on the monitor switches to standby mode when a human is not detected for 40 seconds. Aside from that, both of these monitors are pretty typical. You’ll get 1600 × 900 native resolution, 178-degree viewing angles, and a 3000:1 contrast ratio for the EV2023W and 1920 × 1080 native resolution, 160-degree viewing angles, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio for the EV2303W.

REFRESH-N-REMIND shower monitorA group of designers have come up with a new gadget that allows you to keep track of how much water you waste while showering. The concept consists of three devices working together. The REFRESH-N-REMIND shower monitor, REDUCE-YOUR-USE mat and the RELAX-N-REUSE seat.

It reminds me of a Wii accessory if Nintendo made shower related games. With the REDUCE-YOUR-USE mat, the water turns off when you back away. The RELAX-N-REUSE seat lets you sit while you shave and collects water to be re-used watering plants etc. The REFRESH-N-REMIND monitor will clue you in on how much water you are using.

samsungthinbezel-sbAnyone who has tried to use multiple monitors for watching video or playing PC games knows that the bezel around the screens causes a big problem. On your average computer monitor that means about an inch gap between the two screens and you lose images right in front of your face.

Samsung has announced new large format monitors for applications like video walls that offer the world’s narrowest bezel technology. The new monitors include the 460UT, 460UTn, and the 460UTn-UD. The screens all have the same bezel size with a thickness of 2.4mm on the right and bottom and 4.3mm on the left and top for a total thickness when joined of 7.3mm.

Lorex Wireless Camera: Monitor your home with your iPhoneThe Lorex LNE 3003 Remote Surveillance Camera is Lorex’s most affordable connected camera at only $300. Obviously it’s WiFi enabled (802.11 b/g), and the LNE 3003 can stream VGA video in real time to your iPhone as well as other internet enabled mobile devices.

But is it worth it? Gearlog was kind enough to offer up a review, where they found the mobile phone interface difficult to use and hard to configure, due to the fact that the company does not provide a user friendly iPhone specific application. Other then that they seemed to like it on the desktop where it ran exceptionally well.
