Building your own camera is one of the coolest DIY projects you can do. Sadly cameras are such complex beasts that if you are building anything other than a pinhole camera, it’s pretty impossible. Or is it?

SuperHeadz is offering an alternative in the form of a model camera that you can build from parts and then customize yourself. It’s like those old snap together model kits you had as a kid. But instead of a Ford or a Chevy, you’re building a plastic camera. Pretty neat.

We love us a good case mod round these parts and the Wolfenstein case mod sure brings back memories. The FuG-01/ET aka the Wolfenstein PC Case Mod. This beauty was inspired by the Wolfenstein 3D video games of course.

It features dual electric gauges, one measures amperage, and the other core voltages. There’s also an old phone handset, which won’t make any calls to HQ, a carrying strap and some bullet holes. Creator “Sheyr” really did a Ben Heck of a job capturing the look and feel of the game.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a good car mod. The last one was an Xbox 360 modded into a Suzuki. Now, thanks to some crazy Ruskie hacker, an Eee PC gets crammed into an automobile dashboard. He’s posted an article showing how to take a 7 inch Eee PC apart and turn it into a carputer that hooks into an auto stereo system and it even acts as a graphic equalizer.

The finished product is a computer in your car with 1GB of RAM, 4GB of built in storage plus an 8GB SDHC card, a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, Bluetooth, a slot-loading DVD-RW drive, GPS, 5.1 channel audio, a touschreen, and a boatload of USB adapters that string the whole thing together.

This is one of the coolest, most awesome, most jawdropping PC case mods we’ve seen in awhile. This AMD Phenom PC Case opens up in almost all directions, and looks a lot like a Transformer. It even features a green lighting scheme. Seriously, this thing looks like it’s about to take flight and fight another robot and fill your home with explosions and flying parts.

It’s got a certain classic Cylon look about it too. Look at the picture. Now look at yours. Yeah, now that you’ve seen it, you know what is missing in your life. It was created by Bill Owen, who is a true genius among men. We are not worthy.

Some of you may prefer making your own foods rather then buying them from store shelves. If you choose to make your own peanut butter, well that’s just Skippy. Good for you. It will be fresher, not loaded with preservatives and other chemicals and you’ll get the respect of peanut enthusiasts like former President Jimmy Carter. Your sandwich of choice, PB&J will taste awesome.

Just pour 2 cups of peanuts and decide whether you want crunchy or smooth. After that, just spread it, eat and let it stick to the roof of your mouth. It will cost $50 starting at the end of the month. Might just be easier to buy it in the store, but at a few bucks a jar this machine will save you money.

I thought that buying prepackaged goods was supposed to make life easier, but I guess I was wrong. However those who are completely obsessed with DIY will probably appreciate this and find it fun. The Falter 2D pen makes you work to have your pen and write with it.

The DIY assembly kit even comes with a flat piece of iron that you’ll fold into your pen holder. At $39, you could probably save yourself some trouble and just lift a pen from the next cubicle. Leave 5 bucks if you feel bad you’ll still be better off. Apparently the Falter is handmade in Italy. Just not completed. That’s up to you. Me, I have enough to do already.

I love the sound of the wind hitting my data in the morning. Here’s a great project that will take care of all those old hard drives you have laying around the house, while prettying up the outdoors with tech. And it doesn’t look half bad either. Kinda futuristic and modern.

You won’t need any mad skills in the DIY department since you are just taking hard drives apart. When you’re done you can relax and admire your work as you try to figure out what to do with your other 50 drives.
