Playboy Magazine coming to iPad in March

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2011

The full catalog of Playboy, from the first issue in 1953 to its latest, is coming to the iPad in March. And it will be uncensored. That comes straight from Hef himself. It doesn’t make a lot of sense when you consider Apple’s App Store rulings and Steve Jobs’ comments on keeping adult material off of mobile devices, but whatever.

It will be interesting to see how they do this and how it shapes what else is allowed on the iPad.

iPad Magazine PROJECT to launch tomorrow

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on November 29th, 2010

Richard Branson will be releasing his iPad magazine by the name of “Project” tomorrow or the next day, with a cover featuring Jeff Bridges and a cover story on TRON: Legacy. According to a source from 9 to 5 Mac, it will be available in the iTunes store and active tomorrow in the morning.

Will it be a good magazine? Who knows. It seems to have a wide range of content and is certainly getting a lot of hype. We will find out very soon.

Apple Bans Android Magazine App

Apple is well known for being way too ban-happy, and the recent banning of an Android Magazine App from the App Store shows that they are still at it. This comes after Apple has stated that its application policies have relaxed a little more of late. Not enough apparently.

Unfortunately for publisher Mediaprovider their recent Android magazine App has been banned from the Apple App Store. Below is the conversation Dixon of Mediaprovider had with Richard of the Apple App Store team, after the app was rejected.

Richard Branson launching Project Magazine for iPad

Richard Branson is our favorite rich guy. He wants to put people in space. Enough said. Richard Branson is also funding an iPad-specific magazine, called Project. And what better way than on the iPad?

The magazine will cover content related to entertainment, travel, business, design and international culture. This, along with other recent news makes us wonder if Apple might be implementing subscription billing into the App Store. Seems like it might be coming soon.

Every issue of National Geographic on a 160GB HDD

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on December 30th, 2009

National Geographic, or Nat Geo to it’s friends, is now offering everything it has ever published on a portable 160GB HDD. That’s neat enough, but that’s not all. 100GB of that is free for you to use and add to the collection.

It’s a shame that this wasn’t available before Christmas, but at least you can get it now if you have a spare $199.95. That’s worth it for all those Volcano pictures and Native peoples showing breasts.
